UPDATE: We explain Avengers: Infinity War’s END-CREDITS SCENE.

After-credits scenes are a venerable Marvel tradition, but does Avengers: Infinity War have a stinger? When the MCU was launched back in 2008, a post-credits sequence in Iron Man introduced viewers to Samuel Jackson’s Nick Fury. Since then, end-credits scenes have advanced many of Marvel’s most important stories. Several even featured Thanos himself, setting the Mad Titan up for his starring role in Infinity War.

Although many films have used after-credits scenes in the past, Marvel has essentially turned them into a core part of their brand. Some post-credits scenes are humorous, such as the Captain America PSA in Spider-Man: Homecoming, while others tease the next Marvel movie. In fact, some of these scenes actually wind up being part of a later film (see the stingers for Ant-Man and Doctor Strange).

For all post-credits scenes are important to Marvel’s brand, though, there’s actually been speculation that Avengers: Infinity War would be different. This film has been advertised as a sort of “finale” for the MCU, so would a post-credits sequence actually be of value?

Screen Rant can confirm that Avengers: Infinity War has one after-credits scene. This is at the very end of the credits, meaning viewers will need to sit through all the credits in order to see it. There are no mid-credits scenes.

We are not, however, going to spoil this scene. Avengers: Infinity War has been a decade in the making, and Marvel have desperately attempted to keep the film under wraps. In fact, directors Joe and Anthony Russo even started a #ThanosDemandsYourSilence hashtag on social media to encourage viewers to keep the secret. They - understandably for those who have seen - believe the film has twists and turns that will take audiences by surprise, and they want as many viewers as possible to experience them.

In the aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War, the MCU is about to head in a very strange direction. The next two films are essentially out of sequence. The first, Ant-Man & the Wasp, is actually set in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War. It will be followed by Captain Marvel, a movie that’s based in the ’90s. Both films are expected to feature the Quantum Realm, which has led many fans to believe time-travel will become a major plot-point in the MCU going forward. It’s only after these two interludes that the story of Thanos the Mad Titan will be completed in next year’s Avengers 4.
