UPDATE: Read our explainer for what happens in Jurassic World 2’s end-credits scene.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom continues the Jurassic Park franchise, but does the sequel have an after-credits scene teasing Jurassic World 3? Steven Spielberg kicked off the series of movies about de-extinct dinosaurs in 1993 by adapting Michael Crichton’s novel of the same name. The sci-fi action/adventure film was a verifiable hit with audiences and was granted two sequels, though they weren’t as well received.

The franchise was revived in 2015 with Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World, which picked up two decades after the events of the original film, ignoring the continuity of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III. Instead, Trevorrow explored a world in which John Hammond’s idea for a theme park filled with de-extinct dinosaurs became a reality. Though Jurassic World reviews were decidedly mixed, the movie earned $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office, prompting Universal to green light not just one sequel - J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - but two, with Jurassic World 3 already in the works.

Now, those heading to theaters to catch Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom may be wondering whether Bayona’s entry in the franchise has a post-credits stinger that fans need to wait through the end to see. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom does have an after-credits scene. There is no mid-credits scene, but there is a brief clip at the very end of the credits.

However, as to whether the scene is key to setting up the plot of Jurassic World 3, it doesn’t provide any major additional information that cannot be gleaned from the main ending of Fallen Kingdom. Rather, for those who enjoy some dinosaur action and want to see more of how the film’s ending affects its world, the after-credits scene provides a fun extra bit for fans to enjoy. As a result, fans of the franchise may find it to be worthwhile to stick around through the credits for the extra scene, but it isn’t necessary to enjoying the film or understanding where the new Jurassic Park trilogy will go next.

Of course, it’s always worth it to stick around through the credits to see who’s involved in making a movie, and Fallen Kingdom had a number of people working on the film. Undoubtedly, it was to bring to life all the dinosaurs of Jurassic World 2, including the film’s new hybrid, the Indoraptor. In fact, the dinosaurs of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are so key to the film, they received a poster of their own, with Owen Grady’s (Chris Pratt) trusty Velociraptor Blue at the forefront.

In addition to Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard returns as Claire Dearing in Fallen Kingdom. Together, the two return to Isla Nublar and the ruins of the Jurassic World theme park in order to save the dinosaurs from a volcano beneath the island. Trailers for the Jurassic World sequel have also teased a plot to illegally traffic the dinosaurs that Claire and Owen must stop. Though early reviews for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom have been mixed, with the film hitting theaters, moviegoers can judge for themselves if it’s a worthy summer blockbuster.
