Following the world premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, it has been revealed that it has two post-credits scenes attached. When jumpstarting the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008 with Iron Man, Marvel Studios implemented a segment of their films that has now become standard for them, but also somewhat common among other Hollywood franchises. While post-credits scenes first appeared in film long before, Marvel has routinely used them in a variety of ways.

Whether they have been used to set up where the universe and these characters will go or just to leave the audience laughing on one final joke, fans now expect to see multiple post-credits scenes with Marvel movies. Ragnarok just had its world premiere in Los Angeles last night, and as a result, it has been confirmed how many post-credits scenes it features.

We saw the film as well in preparation for the junket (stay tuned for our interviews) and can confirm how many post-credits scenes Thor: Ragnarok has: There are two and we don’t believe there any being saved for its wide public release, which begins October 26th in the UK, and November 3rd here in North America. We won’t spoil them yet, but stay tuned for details as Thor: Ragnarok opens theatrically.

Marvel will adapt their typical style of including one scene that ties into the events of the movie and another that is strictly for fun. Most recently, Spider-Man: Homecoming used this formula to tease a future for Vulture and Scorpion, only to end the film with a new (meta) Captain America PSA about how disappointing some things can be when you wait so long for them.

With Ragnarok sporting a big cast, there is no telling what the first scene could hold. Will it set up Thor, Hulk, or Loki’s journies heading into Avengers: Infinity War? Potentially. But, it could also tease the future for Valkyrie or even Hela should she be one of the rare Marvel villains not to die in their debut. The second scene, meanwhile, should be one final moment for director Taika Waititi to shine. Who knows, maybe it will even feature a return of Thor’s roommate Darryl.

As great as it is to know how many post-credits scenes Ragnarok has attached and get tonal outlines for each, it does rule out one possibility that many have been hoping for. Fans are still not so patiently waiting for the first teaser for Infinity War to arrive, and if it doesn’t drop before Ragnarok premieres, there was a hope it would actually play as the final post-credits scene. Marvel did a similar thing with The Avengers by attaching a teaser for it to Captain America: The First Avenger. Unless a teaser for Infinity War is treated as a third post-credits scene and is being held out of press screenings and the world premiere, fans will have to hope it drops before Thor: Ragnarok.
