Pixar’s Toy Story 4 is the latest entry in the animated franchise, but does it have a post-credits scene - and, if so, how many? Pixar’s very first animated movie was Toy Story, which hit theaters in 1995 and immediately put the animation studio on the map. Fans young and old fell in love with Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and the whole gang in Andy’s room. Those toys returned for the sequel, Toy Story 2, in 1999, which was just as beloved as the original film. Then, it would be over 10 years before the toys reunited in another big screen offering, 2010’s Toy Story 3. The third film seemed to wrap up the storylines of Woody, Buzz and their friends - but Pixar’s Andrew Stanton already had plans for Toy Story 4.
Stanton, who’d worked on all previous Toy Story movies, teamed up with screenwriter Stephany Folsom and director Josh Cooley to bring Toy Story 4 to life, with the film finally releasing this year. As teased in the Toy Story 4 trailers, the movie sees Woody go on an adventure to save his kid Bonnie’s new favorite toy, a sentient spork she named Forky (Tony Hale) and reunites with Bo Peep (Annie Potts) along the way. He meets other kid-less toys like Gabby Gabby (Christina Hendricks), Ducky (Keegan Michael-Key) and Bunny (Jordan Peele) and Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves). Altogether, Toy Story 4 reviews have been positive, indicating the film is another worthy installment of the Pixar franchise.
Now, as Toy Story 4 is hitting theaters around the world, fans may be wondering if they need to stick around through to the very end of the credits for an extra scene. Toy Story 4 does have mid- and post-credits scenes, with a handful of extra scenes playing in between the first part of the credits (about 4-5), then something extra at the very end. While the credits are always worth watching to get an idea of who’s involved in the making of a movie, Toy Story 4 viewers should know to stick around for something more after the credits finish.
Without spoiling the post-credits scene or the Toy Story 4 ending, we will reveal that the bit at the very end of the credits doesn’t directly set up a sequel. Like Toy Story 3 before it, Pixar seems to be closing the book on the Toy Story franchise with 4. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Pixar hasn’t discussed Toy Story 5 - yet - and it’s unclear if they will in the future. For now, though, Pixar isn’t working on anymore sequels, as they focus on original properties in the coming years, like Onward.
Still, the Toy Story 4 credits scenes are undoubtedly worth sticking around for since they provide some extra fun for moviegoers and help wrap up the storylines in the main film. These characters are beloved by an entire generation that grew up with Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep, Jessie and the rest of the group. But viewers young and old will no doubt also enjoy meeting new toys like Ducky and Bunny. As such, the credits scenes give fans some extra time with all their favorite toys. So, viewers checking out Toy Story 4 in theaters should know to stick around through the credits and wait until the very end.
