Now that production is underway for Captain Marvel, we finally know all the MCU characters that will be returning to make an appearance in the film.

Though we’ve known Captain Marvel was on the books for some time and Brie Larson has been locked to play Carol Danvers for years, it was only during this past summer that we found out some concrete details on the film. Captain Marvel will detail the Kree-Skrull War from the comics, bringing an intergalactic conflict to the ’90s set film. This opened up a lot of potential for returning faces, and it turns out that Samuel L. Jackson’s reappearance as a young Nick Fury won’t be the only one.

The film has started proper production (after some early prep that revealed the character’s costume via set photos) and with it has come an official Captain Marvel cast list featuring some very familiar names alongside Larson, Jackson, Jude Law, Lashana Lynch, and Ben Mendelsohn. Here’s every MCU character confirmed to return.

Nick Fury and Agent Coulson

The most exciting name has to be Clark Gregg, making his return to the theatrical side of the MCU after his character Agent Phil Coulson died in The Avengers. Coulson was revived in the MCU and Gregg has gone on to lead Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but no mention of his character in the movies has appeared since. The ’90s setting of Captain Marvel means that an explanation for Coulson’s resurrection still doesn’t need to be given, so not all fans may be pleased. Then again, we recently heard an MCU movie and TV crossover is impossible, so this may be the best anyone can hope for. We’ve seen a taste of Coulson’s early days in SHIELD on his show, so it will be interesting to see the character return to his more meek roots.

We’ll also get to see the early days of his friendship with Nick Fury, who will still have both of his eyes in the film. And as it was Kree blood that revived Coulson on  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there will be some meta parallels in the story - so expect a wink to that at the very least.

Ronan and Korath

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 seemed to confirm we’d seen the last of Ronan the Accuser and Korath the Pursuer in the MCU after their apparent death in the first film. But with the Kree-Skrull War taking center stage, it suddenly became possible that Captain Marvel could see a return of Ronan at the very least. Now with Marvel’s press release today, we know both Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou will be coming back.

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan had quite the vendetta against the Nova Corps and their planet of Xandar. Meanwhile, he and Korath already seemed to have an established relationship. It’s unknown how deep Captain Marvel will be able to go with all of its supporting characters, but there’s a good chance we’ll see the seeds for Ronan’s hate and understand more about Korath’s reasons for working with the Kree. And if Captain Marvel is truly a prequel for Ronan’s, we may even see the Nova Corps return to the MCU in some fashion.

Ronan in the comics has often fought on the side of good, working with the Avengers and Guardians as much as battling them. It could be we’ll see a more heroic Ronan in Captain Marvel before his turn to zealotry and his hatred of the Nova Corps. With the cosmic side of the MCU being explored by James Gunn in the future, perhaps we’ll even get a Nova Corps film in Phase 4 that will fully flesh out Ronan, his vendeta, and the intergalactic police force. For now, MCU fans should be quite pleased at all the returning characters - even if it appears Agent Carter won’t be in Captain Marvel.
