The presence of Nicholas Flamel and his Philosopher’s Stone in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 has been teased. The first Fantastic Beasts took audiences outside the confines of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, following the globetrotting tale of Magizoologist New Scamander in 1920s New York.

In the upcoming sequel, Rowling (who serves as screenwriter) will upend her characters yet again, exploring her world of magic in Paris, France. This time around, series favorite Albus Dumbledore will play an integral role, this time looking like Jude Law. And Dumbledore isn’t the only nod to the original Harry Potter series.

Social media accounts for the Fantastic Beasts sequel released a photo of an ornately detailed leather-bound book (or chest). Attached to the seal is a lock, and inscribed on the lock are two letters: “NF.” For casual viewers, the identity of NF might seem mysterious, but for obsessive Potterheads, the identity is obvious: Nicholas Flamel, the alchemist who gained immortality by way of the Sorcerer’s Stone. The posts highlight this, teasing its part in the sequel.

Brontis Jodorowsky was recently announced to be portraying Flamel on screen, but very little information regarding his part in the film has been released. As far as the character goes, Flamel and Dumbledore were close friends, so it’s only natural that he would show up during Albus’ formative years as a wizard. The caption acknowledges the Stone, but also teases other secrets - what else has he learned in his half-millennium? Considering that Lord Voldemort sought the stone for immortality, it’s likely that Gellert Grindelwald - Dumbledore’s old friend and arch-nemesis, as well as Fantastic Beasts’ primary villain - will be after it as well.

It may also be worth noting that the Sorcerer’s Stone also has the power to turn any metal into gold. Plot details for the sequel are under wraps, but this unique ability will no doubt seem enticing to villains new and old.

With filming underway, there’s sure to be more Fantastic Beasts 2 news coming soon - and hopefully a first look at the new characters.
