Fast & Furious 8, said to be the beginning of a “final trilogy” of bigger-than-ever installments that will bring the moneymaking car-action franchise to a close with an even ten installments, is currently filmming in multiple locations all over the world. And while the film’s storyline is being kept a closely guarded secret, one thing is for certain: If it’s a Fast & Furious movie, there will be big action built around incredible cars.

So far, fans have been treated to video of cars blowing up in Cleveland, some fast driving going on in Iceland, and a look at how the first week of filming went for the cast and crew. Now, Dennis McCarthy, the franchise’s “automotive guru,” has posted a behind-the-scenes video detailing the eye-popping array of a unique vehicles set to be featured in the film.

While McCarthy’s Facebook video is light on details of who might be driving which car or why so many vehicles have been assembled for this go-around with Dominic Toretto and his crew of street-racers-turned-international-terrorism-fighters, a few clues can be found amid the tour – including the fact that the collection is referred to as “Automotive Valhalla” and features (among other things) tricked-out luxury cars that, according to the film’s backstory, have been seized from the private collections of drug kingpins.

Other cars seen include rare foreign-made vehicles never before featured in the series and several classic American muscle-cars rebuilt/repainted into the franchise’s signature style. According to McCarthy, the collection – the largest ever assembled for the franchise – totals over $17 million in terms of the combined value of each vehicle – a far cry from the mere dozen or so street-racing rides utilized in the first film.

Military vehicles, helicopters, motorcycles, and boats are also featured among the collection, along with fan-favorite cars seen in previous installments and one-of-a-kind items provided by car collectors and automotive companies looking to show off their most prized wares. McCarthy describes the collection, in terms of the film’s storyline, as part of a “quasi-military installation,” suggesting that perhaps the Toretto crew may once again be undertaking a mission for the mysterious government agency fronted by Kurt Russell – and that this time they may have been provided with access to an unprecedented supply of their preferred mode of transportation.

Fast 8 is due out in April of 2017, and is currently shooting in Cleveland, Cuba, Iceland, and other regions. Charlize Theron recently joined the cast, playing the mysterious new character Cipher said to be a villain and a unique new addition to the series. It will also mark the first installment since Tokyo Drift (the third film) to not feature actor Paul Walker, who died tragically during the production of Furious 7.

Fast 8 opens in U.S. theaters on April 17th, 2017, followed by Fast and Furious 9 on April 19th, 2019, and Fast and Furious 10 on April 2nd, 2021.
