The promotion for Final Fantasy VII Remake is underway and the latest official merchandise for the game is a set of expensive glasses. Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020 and developer/publisher Square Enix is fully aware of that fact, as Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved video games of all time.

Final Fantasy VII Remake has already started to receive pricey merchandise, like expensive necklaces based on Aerith and Tifa. This should come as no surprise to long-time fans of the series, as Square Enix has always released a lot of merchandise based on the Final Fantasy VII cast and they’re usually the first to make crossover appearances in other games. There is also a bizarre promotion that involves receiving DLC by buying Butterfingers candy bars that is currently ongoing, which shows the commercial benefit of advertising Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The latest Final Fantasy VII Remake promotion comes in the form of a set of glasses produced by Zoff. The glasses cost ¥16, 500, which is roughly $153/£120 and they come with a special presentation box, a wiping cloth with the game’s logo on it, a glasses case, and card. The glasses can be pre-purchased now and they will be shipped starting from April 3, 2020.

So, what connects these glasses to Final Fantasy VII Remake? According to the Zoff website, the left temple is designed to look like Cloud’s Buster Sword, with two holes where the Materia is meant to be placed, while the right temple has the game’s logo emblazoned on the side, in the form of the descending Meteor. As of the time of writing, the glasses are only confirmed to be released in Japan.

There are Final Fantasy fans that have been waiting over twenty years to return to Midgar and the recent release of the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo has convinced a lot of people who were on the fence that the game is the real deal and deserves their attention. The fact that Final Fantasy VII Remake is just the first entry in a longer series means that fans can expect the cavalcade of merchandise to continue for years to come, and glasses based on elements from the game are just one part of a larger series of accessories, clothing, and jewelry that will be released in the near future.
