The push for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is officially underway. After months of fans waiting to see more from the film thanks to the teaser trailer announcing the Guardians’ return, Marvel Studios took advantage of the big stage that comes with Super Bowl LI to release a new trailer. The trailer showed off the expanded roster the team sports in the sequel, while also introducing us to Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha. Even though much of the trailer was new footage, there has still not been a clear narrative to come out of the marketing.

As the marketing machine picks up however, the story crafted from the mind of director James Gunn will come to be known. While we wait to discover the more specific plot points of the movie however, the embargoes from the set visit of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has lifted, and we have some cool behind-the-scenes photos to share.

Screen Rant visited the Pinewood Studios set in Atlanta last April to interview the cast - check around the site for some of those interviews - but also get a look at some select scenes being filmed. Now, we are finally able to share those images with you and they prominently feature Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

It just so happens that many of these photos are from scenes revealed in the last trailer, while the rest also have been seen in some form earlier on. Gamora is on the run in both of her pictures and thanks to previous marketing, we know she is running from a firing spacecraft - which could be piloted by her angry sister Nebula (Karen Gillan). Star-Lord is featured in most of these as well, such as one of him listening to Awesome Mix Vol. 2 in the same location where the Guardians meet Mantis in the first trailer.

Thanks to the magic of movies, the backdrops to most of these scenes will be drastically different by the time the movie comes out.The look of the full scenes for many of these shots have already been revealed in the marketing, and all of them include space backdrops. There is no way to do that without a heavy amount of blue screen, which is why this is now a common practice in Hollywood. It just goes to show how much of these films are created with VFX, but for a space adventure like Guardians, there is only so much they could do practically and still have it look and feel believable. The photos themselves give fans the chance to look behind the curtain and see how these movies are made, and on that level alone they succeed.
