Back in September, we spotted that Google was developing an “Augmented Reality OS” for an “innovative AR device.” A new report today reveals that Google is working on an AR headset with “Project Iris.” Citing sources familiar with the project, The Verge says that Google is working on a headset that will augment incoming video from outward-facing cameras with various graphics. This is not the glasses form factor, and you’ll be looking at a screen with the current early prototype akin to ski goggles....

When Universal announced that a planned shared monster universe would kick off with a 2017 release of The Mummy (never mind Dracula Untold), the hope was to modernize the classic horror story and create more of an action-adventure film set in the present day. The reboot will present a female mummy played by Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond), abruptly awakened to wreak havoc across the globe, from the sands of the Middle East to secret labyrinths underneath London....

Throughout the Dragon Ball series, there have been a good number of non-canon movies, TV specials, and filler episodes to fill the void between canon material. Though many of these have been considered “what if” scenarios, fans have still debated how viable the various fighters from these non-canon events would stack up against the established heroes from the main storyline. Emilia Clarke opens up about her role as Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The prequel has been described as a mixture of Western and film noir elements, with the Game of Thrones star obviously filling the role of the femme fatale. She’s an integral member of Han’s inner circle when Solo begins, as the two characters grew up together surviving on the streets. Based on footage from the trailer, Qi’ra appears to be the one person who knows Han the best, seemingly unimpressed by the facade the scoundrel puts on to fit in with Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) and the criminal underworld crowd....

Back in 2020, Nvidia declared its intention to purchase chip designer Arm from its owner Softbank for $40 billion. Nearly a year and a half later, Nvidia is reportedly backing out of the deal due to regulatory obstacles. Apple relies on Arm’s instruction set to fabricate custom processors used in iPhones, iPads, and Macs, although the deal likely wouldn’t have affected this arrangement. If the acquisition were approved, Nvidia promised to “continue to operate [Arm’s] open-licensing model while maintaining the global customer neutrality that has been foundational to its success....

Another Apple Original is set to be available on Blu-ray. Award-winning TV show For All Mankind will see a physical release next month as the company expands its titles available for people to physically own them. British label Dazzler Media, in association with Apple TV+, will be the one bringing the first season of For All Mankind to Blu-ray. Launched in 2019 as one of the main TV shows available with Apple TV+, the first season will be available in a two-disc set, scheduled to arrive on the market September 26....

Dollhouse begins with an interesting film noir concept inside the psyche, but the game suffers from repetitive gameplay and clunky controls. It’s always fascinating when a video game can take a walk inside the psyche of its main character and create an engaging story and exciting gameplay. Unfortunately, Dollhouse is not that game, although its film noir setting and story gives it a unique take on traditional psychological horror. In Dollhouse, players take on the role of Marie, a detective who suffers from amnesia....

A release date has been announced for Doom: Annihilation. The adaptation of the classic 3D FPS follows a squadron of space marines as they respond to a distress call on a research base situated on one of the moons of Mars, whereupon they discover that a portal to hell has been opened and they must fight for their lives against the demonic hordes. The film has been in production since April last year, although there has been little in the way of fanfare or production updates, with the film’s Twitter feed having posted just 44 times in the 16 months it’s been operational....

In Escape Room, six strangers find themselves in circumstances beyond their control when they sign up for a mysterious and deadly Escape Room experience. Throughout the movie, they must use their wits in order to survive. Bethesda has officially revealed that the beta for its upcoming release Fallout 76 will launch in October. Fallout 76 will the franchise’s first online multiplayer game.
