It’s been a while since a big company defended Apple’s App Store regarding the Epic antitrust case. Last year, Snap’s CEO said that he was happy to pay App Store taxes “in exchange for all of the amazing technology that they provide to us,” and now Roblox has stated that Apple’s App Store enhances “safety and security” to its users. As reported by Reuters, Roblox is supporting Apple’s bid to beat an appeal by Epic in its key US antitrust case....

As expected, Apple today was hit with an official Statement of Objections from the EU competition commission over the dominance of Apple Pay. The EU says that it has come to the preliminary view that Apple unfairly abused its dominant position in the ‘market for mobile wallets’ by restricting access to the NFC chip to third-parties, thereby elevating the adoption of Apple Pay. The EU says that Apple restricts competition by reserving full access to NFC technology on the iPhone to its own service, Apple Pay....

Following the explosive midseason finale, Fear the Walking Dead may have found their new star. Based on a new press release, Morgan (Lennie James) appears to be the show’s new lead. Before joining the main cast for season 4, Morgan was a series regular on The Walking Dead. Morgan is expected to replace Madison, who is the second season 1 cast member to die this season. Her son, Nick (Frank Dillane) was killed in the third episode....

12 Monkeys star Aaron Stanford has joined the cast of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead for the second half of season 4. Stanford is particularly known among general audiences for playing the fire-controlling mutant Pyro in X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. Stanford was also a series regular on Nikita for four seasons. But, most recently, he played the lead role of James Cole in Syfy’s time travel series 12 Monkeys....

A24 has unveiled the first trailer for James Franco’s directorial effort The Disaster Artist, which chronicles the making of the iconic cult classic The Room. In the film, Franco plays Tommy Wiseau, the man largely responsible for giving the world what has been referred to as the “Citizen Kane of bad movies.” Originally released in 2003, The Room was widely panned by critics due to its bizarre storytelling and poor technical aspects - but those same attributes earned it a sizable following on the midnight circuit in the years since....

Thus far, the most curious moment of American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson comes part way through the second episode. After the disgraced football star has, infamously, evaded police custody by slipping away in a white Ford Bronco, his defense team calls an impromptu press conference during which Robert “Bobby” Kardashian (David Schwimmer), friend and attorney of Simpson, appears on television to read a suicide note written by the distraught celebrity before he disappeared....

Fans of Game of Thrones can only applaud Robb for going against his councils’ wishes and being the only person in the franchise to marry for love. It’s why his romance with Talisa was one of the most endearing and tragic stories you would ever see. However, if Robb was serious about winning the war then this match probably wasn’t the best. In fact, there were plenty of other matches more suitable for Robb that could have benefited him more in the end....

Hollywood studios have yet to successfully translate a Japanese anime and/or manga property to the big screen, as evidenced by the weak critical/commercial returns for movies like Dragonball: Evolution and Speed Racer in the past. Nevertheless, as is the case with the video game film genre, there’s a general recognition among U.S. film studios that the well of anime/manga movie adaptations is a potentially lucrative - and varied - market to tap into, which is why such projects as Ghost in the Shell and Death Note are now actively moving forward (while rumors of an Akira live-action film refuse to die)....

Four years ago, when I received the original CalDigit TS3 Plus dock, I called it the best Thunderbolt dock available for Mac users. DuckDuckGo announced earlier this week that the app is launching its new Email Protection feature into beta. This function will protect email privacy without switching email services. DuckDuckGo is also giving a personal @duck.com email address for its users, which will also be able to generate unique private email addresses in the app. With the @duck.com email, DuckDuckGo says it removes hidden trackers from incoming messages sent to the address then forwards them to the user’s regular inbox for safer reading....

The poster and first images for The Equalizer 2 were released today, and Denzel Washington has his eyes on you. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, 2014’s The Equalizer stars Washington as Robert “Bob” McCall, a retired Black Ops agent and widower who’s not ready to call it quits. When he discovers that a young friend works as a prostitute for the Russian mafia, McCall seeks justice, and he’s less than forgiving with his enemies....

In the world of animated feature films, no studio has pushed boundaries more than that of Pixar. Time and time again the animation team has proven that they are the leaders of the imaginative, the creative and the unique. They seamlessly blend dazzling animation with superbly crafted stories in every title they’ve created, not to mention the wonderfully built ensemble voice casting they have by their side. Pixar has been releasing feature-length movies for more than 20 years now, a fact that might be hard to believe to some of our older readers....

The Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, has announced a settlement with AT&T, Verizon, and others over failed 911 calls. As reported by The Verge, the carriers will pay a total of $6 million combined as part of the settlement. The settlement was reached between the FCC and AT&T, Verizon, Intrado, and CenturyLink (now known as Lumen Technologies). The investigation was opened following network outages that impacted the ability for customers to reach 911:...

Apple continues to move up the rankings of the Fortune Global 500 largest companies. New rankings published today show that Apple is now the most profitable company on the list, rising from third place last year, and is now in sixth place in terms of revenue, up from 12th place last year. In the fiscal year of 2020, Apple netted $57 billion in profit, making it the most profitable company in the world according to Fortune’s list....

Last week, rumors about a possible iPhone 14 delay rumors gained traction due to several lockdowns in China in the past few weeks. Now, Foxconn, the iPhone maker, has raised its outlook for the current quarter and 2022 in general by saying it’s improving supply chain stability in the country. As reported by Nikkei Asia, Foxconn’s chairman Young Liu spoke with shareholders about the lockdown impacts this Tuesday. While Foxconn was just 4% down in revenue in April compared to the previous month, iPhone assembler Pegatron and MacBook maker Quanta Computer saw revenues down 35% and 40%, respectively....

Sony has just announced its suite of free PlayStation Plus games for October. Starting Tuesday, October 2, Plus subscribers will be able to get their hands on two unique PlayStation 4 games: Laser League and Friday the 13th: The Game. PlayStation 3 users aren’t being left out in the cold yet, with Master Reboot and The Bridge coming to lovers of Sony’s last-gen console.
