Ahead of the high-end Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launching this fall, Google today launched its latest entry-level smartphone with the Pixel 5a with 5G. The new iPhone SE competitor brings an all-metal body, high-capacity battery, headphone jack, and more alongside the next-gen cellular connectivity. At the beginning of August, Google showed off the upcoming flagship Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Those devices will compete head-on with the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro and come with Google’s first custom SoC....

Every so often, we see a competitor throw some shade at Apple on Twitter, and sometimes they do it while tweeting from the very iPhone they are mocking. The Google Pixel team hasn’t learned their lesson, apparently, and sent out a tweet mocking Apple last night while using “Twitter for iPhone.” It was quickly deleted… but the internet doesn’t forget. As spotted by friend of the site Ian Zelbo, the Google Pixel account on Twitter sent out a tweet last night in response to Tim Cook’s “#TakeNote” teaser....

Hugo and Nebula Award-winning author Neil Gaiman spins an inventive yarn about ex-con Shadow Moon, a man caught between the coming war between the ancient gods (such the Norse and Christian deities) and contemporary gods (Media and Technology). Last year, Starz announced their forthcoming adaptation of the beloved book as a television series, with renowned creator/showrunner Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and producer Michael Green (Smallville) bringing their own visual interpretation to the Gaiman’s tale....

Apple’s AirTag item tracker has been the subject of a number of stories, and the latest comes from an investigation in Florida. Game of Thrones season 8 wraps up the series by having Tyrion proclaim Bran the only viable option for king because he has the best story out of any of them and stories are what unite people. The problem, however, is that Game of Thrones doesn’t earn this ending, leaving it for the finale to argue why Bran should be king rather than use its eight seasons to show why....

The popular role-playing game Genshin Impact received a major update this week with new character, more areas, events, and weapons. However, the update also brings a new 120 FPS mode to the iOS version of the game, which now takes advantage of the ProMotion display on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPad Pro. Since iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPad Pro (2nd generation and later) feature ProMotion display, which enables variable refresh rate up to 120Hz, developers can update their apps and games to run at 120 frames per second....

The live-action adaptation of the classic manga-turned-anime Ghost in the Shell has been a long time coming. Rumors have been floating around for years now, from a 2008 story about Steven Spielberg showing interest in the film to talk in 2014 of Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie landing the lead role. Now with the benefit of hindsight, it turns out Spielberg’s involvement in the movie will be minimal at best, with his company Dreamworks producing it, and Margot Robbie is busy with her role as Harley Quinn....
