Filming has begun on the BBC’s TV adaptation of H. G. Wells’s The War of the Worlds. This will be the first adaptation to be true to Wells’s original classic novel, right down to its English setting. The War of the Worlds is a literary classic, the first science-fiction novel to truly deal with the idea of alien invasion. 2016 has been a good year for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movie franchise, with Deadpool having become an unexpectedly huge box office success and X-Men: Apocalypse now on its way to becoming a sizable commercial hit in its own right.
