For many, the show has become a family staple, and having watched it as a child, adults are now watching with their children. While still undoubtedly very popular, there’s no denying that in recent seasons, viewing figures have been in decline....

A movie about Donald Trump titled The Apprentice is currently in development. Borrowing the title from the reality show Trump himself produced, American author Gabriel Sherman will pen the screenplay. Just over a year into his presidency, US President Donald Trump will be the focus of a feature length movie based on his journey to the White House, beginning with the earliest moments of his career. Trump won the presidential election on November 8, 2016, edging out his running mate Hillary Clinton....

Robin Williams had an impressive and varied movie career before his untimely death in 2014. He played everything from a lovable clown doctor to an intense, humorless serial killer. While the serial killer role (in Christopher Nolan’s Insomnia remake) was definitely not for children, one role in particular was: his role as feral wild man Alan Parrish in 1995’s Jumanji. Emily Mortimer has appeared in dozens of Hollywood films and played television news producer MacKenzie McHale on HBO’s The Newsroom for three seasons. Now they are playing Michael and Jane Banks in Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to the classic 1964 Disney film. Twenty-five years since events of the first film, Michael and Jane are revisited by Mary Poppins, while their family is dealing with the loss of a family member....

Epic’s battle with Apple, in which both sides claimed victory, is at least partly motivated by the developer’s metaverse ambitions, suggests a new report today. The term was used by Facebook, which even renamed the company to reflect its goals in this area. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said there’s a race to be the first metaverse company to get a billion users … Bloomberg reported Sweeney’s comments. Fortnite currently has 60 million monthly active users, but the report notes that Epic is one of several companies to have something of a head-start in this area....

AOM was founded a few years ago with the initial project pursuing “a new, royalty-free video codec specification and open-source implementation based on the contributions of Alliance members and the broader developer community, along with binding specifications for media format, content encryption, and adaptive streaming.” But according to Reuters, the EU watchdog is not happy with that, as it wants to understand whether there is an infringement with the video licensing policy and how it will impact companies that are not part of this alliance....

A company you’ve likely never heard of may owe you money if you’ve ever used Venmo, Robinhood, Coinbase, American Express, or any other financial app that uses a company called Plaid to link the app to your bank account … Fast Company reports that Plaid was accused in a class action lawsuit of collecting more financial data than needed, and using deception to do so. Despite denying the allegations, the company has agreed to an out-of-court settlement....

The summer movie-going season may be winding down, but there are still plenty of fun new movies arriving in August 2019 to make sure the season ends on a high note. In some ways, The X-Men film franchise was Marvel’s first cinematic universe. Even though, all of the characters came from one brand, the two separate X-franchises merged when Days Of Future Past happened. The film series always tried to give the fans what they wanted out of it, but the movies never quite reached the heights of their cousins over at Disney. Proxima Midnight’s character design in Avengers: Infinity War was inspired by Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) look in Guardians of the Galaxy. Despite being one of the weaker elements in the film, it doesn’t mean that Marvel Studios didn’t devote time and effort in bringing the Black Order to life. Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired ride Mission: BREAKOUT! is being transformed in time for Halloween. Anaheim’s Disney California Adventure park opened the game-changing new ride back on May 27, with Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 writer/director James Gunn on hand to celebrate the premiere. Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, meanwhile, takes place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31 with a variety of new attractions and events geared toward families looking to have some frightful fun after sunset....

It’s likely that had Harry Potter fans been consulted with a choice between a ninth Harry Potter film or a new franchise adapted from one of J.K. Rowling’s spin-off novels, the overwhelming consensus would favor more Potter. As it stands however, the upcoming arrival of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has a very strong fanbase and in terms of box office receipts, the magical tale set 70 years prior to Harry Potter’s adventures is expected to score big....

Ubisoft’s action game series Far Cry has been to some interesting places in recent years, with 2012’s Far Cry 3 dropping its pampered American protagonist into the jungles and beaches of a remote and lawless island, and 2014’s Far Cry 4 seeing a native of Kyrat (a fictional version of Nepal) return to his homeland of mountains, forests and temples. But while the last two games had a very similar set-up, next year’s release Far Cry Primal promises to be something very different....

Five senators are urging Apple and Google to prohibit apps from gathering data that could target those seeking abortions. According to CNET, the group of senators are worried the data could end up in the hands of authorities. The group sent a letter on Friday to Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook. In it, the senators show concern that anti-abortion prosecutors will try to gather personal information “in ways that threaten the wellbeing of those exercising their right to choose....

After being canceled by ABC following a controversial tweet from Roseanne Barr, Roseanne may be revived yet again. A Trump alum has plans to save the show by way of a new streaming service.Originally ending after its ninth season in 1997, Roseanne was a sitcom on ABC that followed a working class American family led by the titular matriarch played by Barr. The series starred John Goodman as Roseanne’s husband, recent Academy Award nominee Laurie Metcalf as her sister, and Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, and Lecy Goranson (later replaced by Sarah Chalke) as Roseanne’s three children....

As expected, Epic Games has today filed a notice of appeal in the case against Apple over App Store policy. On Friday, the judge delivered her verdict, several months after Epic and Apple executives waged war in the court trial. The judge found in favor of Apple in 9 out of 10 ten counts. However, Epic did successfully get the judge to agree that Apple needs to remove anti-steering provisions around In-App Purchase and allow companies to direct their users to alternative payment systems outside of the app....
