Casterly Rock We’ve heard talk about Casterly Rock plenty of times on the show before, thanks to it being the seat of the once-mighty House Lannister, but even book readers have never visited the location. Though it’s unknown whether the castle will be seen again after being taken by the Unsullied, its sudden appearance on the series after six seasons makes it worthy of mention. Though the show reduced its scale quite a bit, the rock on which the castle sits is deemed to be thrice as tall as the Wall and the Hightower in Oldtown....

The upcoming UFO drama series Blue Book has found its lead actor, and it’s someone who’s very familiar with conspiracies. Game of Thrones alum Aidan Gillen has been confirmed as the star of the forthcoming scripted show from the History Channel, which is being executive produced by Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis. It’s one of several projects that the GOT actor is working on, and also looks to be arguably one of the most interesting....

Following iOS availability earlier this year, the Google One VPN is now available for Mac and Windows through new desktop apps. Update 11/15: The Google One VPN Mac and Windows apps are now available. Visit one.google.com/benefits on your desktop computer and find the “VPN protection for multiple devices” card. View details > Download app (in the bottom-right corner) will start the process. On macOS, you have to enable a system extension, while other approvals are “Launch app after computer starts” (optional) and “Add VPN Configurations....

Following Gmail at the start of this year, Google Drive is the latest iOS app to get new work-focused widgets, while there are also updates for Translate and Chat on iOS in the coming weeks. The new widgets for Google Drive are aimed at the iPad. It starts with a new XL widget that will show eight recent files that are contextually relevant. The current widget only shows two, while shortcuts next to the Search bar provide access to Priority files, Shared documents, Shared drives, and fast upload....

Gotham star David Mazouz once again discusses Jerome/The Joker, saying that Jerome will be instrumental to the actual Joker’s creation. Over the course of its nearly four seasons, Gotham has played host to many memorable villains, many of whom serve as early versions of iconic members of Batman’s rogues’ gallery. So far, The Penguin, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, The Scarecrow, and more have all gotten their own Gotham spin, even if said spin is sometimes wildly different from the conventional interpretation of the character....

Steven Moffat has revealed part of an earlier draft of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special that was written for Christopher Eccleston. Throughout most of its history, Doctor Who has been a series that has no problem interfering with its own timeline. It’s an easy enough thing to do when the characters are time travelers. Even the most recent Christmas Special involved the Doctor meeting a much older incarnation of himself....

The BBC has revealed the writing and directing crew for Doctor Who season 11. In addition to featuring the first staff writers of color in the time-traveling adventure series’ 53-year history, this season will star Jodie Whittaker as the first woman to ever play The Doctor on the small screen. Dumbo star Colin Farrell says director Tim Burton’s live-action movie isn’t really a remake of Disney’s animated film and features a “completely new narrative”. The original animated film came out in 1941 and is the latest in a growing collection of classic hand-drawn Disney features to be reimagined with live-action and CGI. Funnily enough, it was Burton’s Alice in Wonderland that started this trend in 2010. Since then, the Mouse House has churned out several more live-action remakes of its animated classics, including Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast....

With news that a Deathstroke movie may be on the way from Warner Bros., a fan artist has made his own rendition of what the films could look like – with the Red Hood along for the ride. The news that Slade Wilson is in line to star in his own solo adventure comes as a pretty big shock, especially since it was believed that the character was being put on the backburner after Matt Reeves was brought on board to direct The Batman....

With the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them less than two weeks away at the time of writing this, it seems as though there’s no end to the onslaught of publicity, with new clips, TV spots, and comments from cast and crew surfacing almost daily. It could wear a little thin; except this is the Wizarding World of J.K. Rowling’s creation that we’re talking about, and it’s pretty hard to tire of something so magically detailed and entertaining....

As showrunner Dave Erickson leaves Fear the Walking Dead, the season 3 finale presents the series with a potential new beginning ahead of season 4. Showrunner turnover is nothing new to the Walking Dead; the mother ship of AMC’s zombie franchise is practically defined by the sudden departures of Frank Darabont and Glen Mazarra before current showrunner Scott M. Gimple stepped in. But Fear the Walking Dead’s Dave Erickson has been with the series from the beginning, and although the spinoff never quite achieved the same level of success as its predecessor, its start was markedly less tumultuous....

E3 2019 existed in something of a strange space this year. Although there were plenty of interesting developments that emerged from the show, whether it be the reveal of Xbox Scarlett to the masses or the surprise announcements of games like a Breath of the Wild sequel, there was also a tangible sense that everyone was holding back. Beyond Sony’s absence, Microsoft also appeared to temper its game reveals somewhat, failing to produce any of the slam dunk showcases that could have captured the imaginations of gamers for the better part of 2019....

Apple TV+ debuted its new comedy series Loot last week, starring Maya Rudolph. Following the premiere, Apple has also announced that it has struck a deal with Rudolph’s production company Animal Pictures. Animal Pictures is headed up by Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens. Other notable output from Animal Pictures includes Russian Doll on Netflix. The first-look deal gives Apple right of first refusal for all TV series and digital feature films in production at the Animal Pictures studio....

The entire games industry was in mourning in July of last year when it was announced that then President and CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata had passed away after complications due to a tumor at the age of 55. Several messages on social media were posted honouring his memory, often using iconic characters he had helped create, like Kirby. There was even one image showing a rainbow over Nintendo headquarters that was dubbed ‘the Rainbow Road to heaven’, referencing the Mario Kart stage....

After adding support for the M1 through Rosetta last year, Nvidia has just announced that its GeForce Now cloud gaming service is picking up native support for M1 Macs through its latest app update. Rolling out now, the GeForce Now app for macOS is adding official native support for the Apple M1 chip. As mentioned, support has been available through Apple’s Rosetta compatibility layer since February of last year, but native support will result in better overall performance on Apple’s latest Macs....

Director Bryan Singer’s recent comments on The Gifted suggest that FOX’s upcoming new X-Men series is not your typical superhero show. The X-Men veteran is taking the franchise to TV after having directed four installments of the sprawling movie series. The Gifted will cover a new group of young mutants who are being introduced into the X-Men universe - though it isn’t the same universe as the X-Men movies. FOX’s new show will follow misunderstood mutants struggling to coexist with humans and the government, which is nothing new for the X-Men universe....

The second Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer comes out tomorrow, but what time will it release online? In 2014, Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla reboot became the impetus for Legendary and Warner Bros.’ MonsterVerse, a burgeoning shared universe that includes some of the most iconic monsters/kaijus in movie history. Beginning with Godzilla and expanding with Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island in 2017, the MonsterVerse is already off to a strong start - and it’s only going to get bigger from here on out....

It’s been a challenging year on a number of levels and major tech hasn’t been immune. Over the last twelve months, more than $3 trillion in value has been shed by the top seven US tech companies. While all have lost billions, Google’s Alphabet and Microsoft have taken the most damage with 20x the losses that Apple has seen. After critical comments on Saturday, Android chief Hiroshi Lockheimer is back with some “thoughts and clarifications” on RCS and iMessage. The SVP of Platforms and Ecosystems starts by stating that Google is “not asking Apple to make iMessage available on Android” as part of its public, year-long RCS adoption push. This was something Apple looked into when rumors of Google acquiring WhatsApp emerged several years ago, but Apple executives have since dismissed that idea as hurting iOS exclusivity....
