The film industry loves its adaptations, shared universes, remakes, and live-action versions of animated classics. As of late, Disney has taken some of its audience’s most-loved animated features and turned them into live-action movies, the latest of them being Cinderella, which was released last year and became another hit for the studio. This year, the Mouse House will release their live-action take on The Jungle Book from director Jon Favreau, while continuing work on a long list of upcoming adaptations, such as Beauty and the Beast (aimed for a March 17, 2017 release), Dumbo, Mulan, and Cruella....

The issue of additional content and microtransactions in video games has now led to a response from the ESRB, with the rating board set to put a warning on games that include in-app purchases. The topic has become a subject of much discussion recently, with more and more games turning towards microtransactions as a business model or a means of supplemental cash. If Activision’s microtransaction-based matchmaking patent is anything to go by, then this trend is also going to continue....

Spider-Man: Far From Home may essentially be an epilogue to Phases 1-3 of the MCU, but Marvel Studios has a lot more films in the works. Marvel has become increasingly secretive about their long-term plans; back in 2014, the studio made a full Phase 3 slate announcement, but they’re attempting to build up a sense of mystery around Phase 4 and beyond. In part, that’s because Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige appears to feel that the Phase 3 announcement backfired....

Announced during E3 2016, this returning franchise was a sight for sore eyes for PlayStation fans that have been actively chomping at the bit for God of War’s resurrection. Much to the delight of said fans, Kratos is once again the star of the new God of War game arriving exclusively for PlayStation 4 in 2018. While exact details of the plot are still unknown, the exceptions being Kratos has a son and the theme now embraces Norse mythology leads as the setting of the story, there are many questions that fans of the series still have about the project....

The CW released a first look at Odette Annable suited up as Reign on Supergirl. Since the series first began - airing season 1 on CBS before moving to The CW for season 2 - Supergirl has featured a number of female DC Comics villains. From one-off antagonists like Psi and Bizarro to more developed baddies like Livewire and Silver Banshee, and even to the big bads of each season - Astra, Indigo, Lillian Luthor, and Daxamite Queen Rhea - Supergirl has introduced a great deal of female villains for Kara Danvers to face....

Not too long after Supergirl ended its freshman run on CBS, rumors began to swirl that the series would join Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow on The CW. Sure enough, that turned out to be the case, and speculation immediately turned to whether fans would see all four series crossover. Again, it did not take long for this massive crossover to be confirmed, and for news to drop that characters from all four shows would unite to battle one alien threat – the Dominators....

George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire was already a cultural phenomenon before HBO got its hands on the rights and started cranking out episodes of Game of Thrones in 2011. The series quickly shot to into the TV hall of fame thanks to its beautiful sets, expansive mythology, and unforgettable characters. Long before the stories hit the small screen, fans were hard at work interpreting what those character might actually look like....

We broke the news last year that Google was eventually going to replace Duo by making Meet its only video calling service. That remains the case, but the resulting product will be primarily focused on enterprise and is no longer internally pitched to be a merger of the two apps, as Google has no plans to create a dedicated consumer-oriented video offering. Our August 2020 report revealed that Google wanted to have a single video calling service for both regular/personal and business users....

Google announced a major event is coming later this week, as the company will reveal the Stadia price and launch info. Google Stadia has been a major influence on the gaming industry since its announcement in March earlier this year, but precious little is known about when the platform will be widely available and how much it will cost early adopters looking to use it. What we do know about Google Stadia is exciting, however....

In a recent Facebook Q&A, James Gunn revealed that the soundtrack of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has changed a lot as he works on the film’s script. James Gunn is one of the most popular directors among Marvel fans, and not simply because of the unique tone and style of his Guardians of the Galaxy movies. He’s admired and respected for his commitment to interacting with fans, and Gunn regularly hosts Q&As on his Facebook page....

Video game writer Erik Wolpaw has returned to Valve. The Portal and Half-Life 2 co-writer left the company over a year ago to work on other projects, including DoubleFine’s Psychonauts 2. Wolpaw’s departure from Valve followed the departure of fellow Half-Life 2 writer Marc Laidlaw, who left the company in 2016. Writer Chet Faliszek also left the company in 2017. Wolpaw has a series of impressive professional game writing credits under his belt....

The media in attendance at the event are sharing hands-on photos, videos, and impressions after handling the new hardware. The first footage of the long-awaited Doctor Who Christmas special has been released, and it promises a festive fun adventure with a superhero theme. The title of the episode will be “The Return of Doctor Mysterio”, with Justin Chatwin playing the superhero in question. The episode will be set in New York, although as the press release proudly states; it was all filmed in the usual Doctor Who home of Cardiff, Wales....

Donald Glover makes a cameo in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and it’s one of the film’s coolest easter eggs. The animated film marks the big screen debut for Miles Morales, a comic book character created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli back in 2011. Following his debut on the printed page, Miles made the leap to television with roles on animated TV shows like Ultimate Spider-Man and, most recently, Marvel’s Spider-Man....

Something mysterious is terrorizing Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the new teaser for A Quiet Place. Krasinski co-wrote and directed the supernatural horror film, coming on April 6th, 2018 from Paramount Pictures. A Quiet Place marks the first time married couple Blunt and Krasinski appear together in a live-action film (they both did voice work on the animated Animal Crackers). Krasinski re-wrote the script, originally written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, and took on the task of directing himself and his own wife in what looks like a harrowing survival horror exercise....

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s main narrative will reportedly be about the government not wanting Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) to be the next Captain America. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the upcoming Disney Plus series will put the focus on Steve Rogers’ (Steve Rogers) closest friends as they team up against Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) - the mastermind behind the events of Captain America: Civil War. After accomplishing his final mission to return all the Infinity Stones in their original locations, old man Steve returns to the primary MCU timeline to hand out the shield to Sam - effectively passing the mantle as Captain America....

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them dropped the surprising twist that Percival Graves is Gellert Grindelwald in disguise, but the film actually heavily foreshadowed this reveal. Anticipation is mounting for the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Through the course of the upcoming movie, a young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) recruits Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Tina and Queenie Goldstein (Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol) and Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) to bring down Grindelwald after he escapes from prison....

Legendary comic creators Gail Simone and Christopher Priest are coming to the Catalyst Prime universe. In the case of Christopher Priest, it’s a return trip, with the writer poised to once again help develop the universe for which he co-wrote (with Joseph Phillip Illidge) “The Event” - the first story set in the reality of Lion Forge Comics’ superhero universe. Simone, by contrast, is taking on a leadership role, as Chief Architect for the line....

Sci-fi/cyberpunk anime and manga property Ghost in the Shell is becoming a big-budget Hollywood production set for release in 2017, under the direction of Snow White and the Huntsman helmsman Rupert Sanders. Scarlett Johansson is headlining the film as “The Major”, a unique cyborg who - in the film’s futuristic setting - leads an elite crime-fighting task force known as Section 9, dedicated to stopping criminals who seek to destroy society’s advancements in cyber technology over the years....
