Adapting hit anime and manga may be the next big wave in Hollywood. While live-action versions of Akira and Cowboy Bebop have milled around in development hell for years, American remakes of Death Note, Naruto, and Attack on Titan will all be hitting theaters in the coming years. Beating them all to the punch is the Scarlett Johansson-starring Ghost in the Shell, which will bring the story of Major to the big screen for the first time outside of animation in just a little over a month....

As the end of 2018 fast approaches, various awards bodies are weighing in, listing what they feel is the best the year had to offer. The “new” Doctor Who kicked off in 2005 with the Ninth Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston. The series revival was lead by head writer/showrunner Russell T. Currently on its Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi), the show has been a success on both sides of the Pond. The popularity of the characters also allowed for spin-off series, which included immortal time traveler Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) leading the more adult-oriented Torchwood....

At the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the future is wide open for Han Solo and Chewbacca - does Lucasfilm tease a much-anticipated sequel with an after-credits scene? A young Han Solo movie has been on the Sabacc cards since before Disney bought Lucasfilm, and it’s becoming apparent that it won’t end with just one film. The core cast - including Alden Ehrenreich - are all signed on for three films, and based on the way the movie wraps up, a lot more needs to happen....

The Doom Patrol are the best thing to come out of DC Universe’s Titans series so far. Now that Game of Thrones has finished, fan speculation has turned to the next projects for HBO and George R R Martin’s world - and one of the actors from the series has a perfect pitch for a Dorne spinoff. Since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Meta announced that it wouldn’t take a cut of creators’ revenue on Facebook and Instagram as a measure to help small businesses. The company first announced the cut-free revenue would last “for at least the next year,” but now it has confirmed that the benefit will extend until 2024. The announcement was made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post (via The Verge)....

A fan made poster for Shazam! imagines a first look at Zachary Levi in the vein of Alex Ross. Production is officially underway for what will be the seventh film in the DC movie universe. Director David F. Sandberg is helming the project after being announced to direct nearly one year ago. Following a long casting search that saw the likes of John Cena being in contention, the latest superhero gig went to Zachary Levi....

The Fire Emblem: Three Houses class options can be daunting, and choosing which path to go down with the limited number of units a player gets access to is crucial in navigating the later game effectively. There may be a much larger focus on character-building and social simulation in Three Houses, but battle is still the way to progress the game’s main story and win some sweet loot during auxiliary missions, so class choice remains important....

It looks as if the Skrulls may make their live-action debut in next year’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The superhero movie world is full of characters being rebooted, but the genre’s long life and proliferation means next years will bring about the first story arc reboot. While X-Men: The Last Stand loosely wove the threads of The Dark Phoenix Saga into its cluttered film, next year’s core X-Men movie will see Simon Kinberg attempt to finally tell a more fleshed out version of the tale....

For as long as Game of Thrones has existed, the continual breaking of ratings records has been a recurring part of the real-world story for HBO’s hit adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series. The Game of Thrones season 5 premiere set a new series’ high in 2015, only for the season 5 finale to break that same record. Other episodes have broken series ratings records too....

George Clooney is reportedly in the early stages of negotiations to direct forthcoming Sci-Fi thriller, Echo. Originally a script by Christopher MacBride (The Conspiracy), Echo was snapped up by 20th Century Fox back in 2013 with Shawn Levy set to act as producer via his 21 Laps production company. Although the project remains in the very early stages, it is known that Echo’s plot will focus on a CIA drone specialist who begins to question his own sanity, believing himself to be the victim of a conspiracy in which his own wife may have been replaced....

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is expanding Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse, and that means several more Titans are joining the fold. Beginning with Gareth Edwards’ 2014 reboot, Godzilla, WB launched yet another shared universe to compete with other studios in the growing trend in Hollywood of interconnected narratives. And while it took them a few years to build upon the MonsterVerse with Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island in 2017, they are now moving forward at breakneck pace....

The original H1Z1 map, titled Outbreak, is now available for PC players, and developer Daybreak Games gave Screen Rant a brief rundown of all the changes and updates they’ve made to the map to better fit the Battle Royale genre. Years ago, the Z1 map was the map that essentially spawned the Battle Royale trend, but it wasn’t initially built for that purpose. Rather, it was built for a survival game that incorporated free-for-all and looting elements....

Apple Arcade saw the NBA 2K franchise launch on the platform back in 2021 and NBA 2K22 followed last year.
