Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot (or, colloquially, “Fant4stic”) was more or less the notorious box-office bomb of 2015. In addition to being despised by critics, roasted by Marvel fans and roundly rejected by mainstream moviegoers, it was openly disowned by its own director amid a career downturn that may have led to (among other things) his no longer directing an unnamed Star Wars spinoff. Apple held its “Far out” special event yesterday to announce the iPhone 14 lineup and a number of other things. Some people tuning in to watch the event on YouTube, however, saw an entirely different event: a fake “Apple Crypto Event 2022” featuring clips of Tim Cook talking about cryptocurrencies with “URGENT NEWS” to share. The stream was first spotted by The Verge and YouTube quickly removed the stream once The Verge’s story had been published....

Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson is getting support from his friends and fans after the actor posted a questionable post on Instagram that some thought seemed suicidal. Davidson made his debut on SNL in 2014, which just so happened to be the same time his ex-fiancé Ariana Grande performed as the musical guest on the show. 2018 has been a rough year for Davidson. Not only did he break up with his then-girlfriend Cazzie David, but his engagement to pop star Ariana Grande was also called off this year....

It looks like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is actively looking for some young talent to play teenage versions of the film’s biggest stars. Hoping to capitalize on the spellbinding magic of David Yates’ 2016 film, the second chapter of the Fantastic Beasts series is set to arrive in 2018 and will once again follow Eddie Redmayne, as the inquisitive Newt Scamander. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has called for additional credit to 20th Century Fox for coming up with source material-accurate and still profitable superhero films. The film studio holds the rights to some Marvel characters like the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool. Although the corporation has struggled in launching the First Family into cinematic glory, as well as, some hard misses with other mutant-based projects like X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: The Last Stand, they were able to balance out their losses in recent years by green lighting Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Logan....

Frank Miller has had one of the most successful careers in modern comics. Credited with changing the way superheroes could be written with his groundbreaking run on Daredevil and the dystopian DC Universe future of The Dark Knight Returns, he’s lauded for bringing a new level of gritty realism and dark sensibilities to classics characters. Miller’s work is also credited with touching off a a trend toward darker heroes that some say has gone too far....

Halo Infinite will not be attempting to capitalize on the battle royale multiplayer mode’s popularity when the game releases, as 343 Industries developers Jeff Easterling and James Bachici creatively denied the possibility of a battle royale mode in the next Halo title. Not much is currently known about Halo Infinite, but 343 Industries has promised a return to what made the series so popular in its infancy. So far, that’s meant refocusing on Master Chief as the Halo protagonist, placing the iconic military hero front and center within a new narrative that will pick up where Guardians left off....

When Apple announced Continuity Camera in iOS 16 and macOS Ventura at WWDC, it showed off accessories from Belkin that will make it easy to mount your iPhone to the top of your Mac’s display. An agreement has finally been reached on the scope of planned European antitrust legislation. It was previously unclear whether or not Apple would be included in the companies targeted, but it has now been confirmed that the definition will be broad enough to include the iPhone maker. There had been significant disagreements about the appropriate targets for the EU’s planned Digital Markets Act (DMA). Some wanted it to be laser-focused on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, while others wanted it to target the very largest tech companies …...
