The BBC has confirmed that there will be a Doctor Who special on New Year’s Day and have released a brief synopsis of the episode. The currently airing 11th season of Doctor Who has been a historic run in the show’s history, as the first to feature a female Doctor and Jodie Whittaker’s regeneration has largely been a hit with both viewers and critics. Alongside new companions, Yaz, Ryan and Graham, the thirteenth Doctor has faced tooth-encrusted alien warriors, an energy-hungry Stitch lookalike and a handful of racists, always coming out on top....

Illumination Entertainment’s The Grinch offers a modern retelling of Dr. Seuss’s classic Christmas tale - but does it have an after-credits scene continuing the story? The story of the Grinch started off as a children’s book written by Dr. Seuss published in 1957. It was adapted into an animated TV special in 1966, then a live-action movie in 2000. Now, Illumination Entertainment is reimagining the classic story for a new generation with The Grinch....

In the world of Dragon Ball it might feel like Goku and Vegeta are the only ones who matter in terms of strength, but so many of the fighters the two heroes have encountered have been capable of destroying a planet multiple times over. It’s not that everyone else is weak, but rather that there are so many strong characters that it’s easy to forget that almost any one of them could have ruled the Earth if Goku didn’t happen to call the planet home....

Dwayne Johnson states his belief that one day cinematic comic book adaptations will see a version of Superman played by a black actor. The action star is next to be seen in The Fast and the Furious spin off Hobbs & Shaw, which features a line where Idris Elba’s villainous super soldier Brixton Lore declares himself “black Superman.” Recent years have seen POC characters from comics begin to receive greater prominence in movie adaptations, with the likes of Black Panther and Miles Morales’ Spider-Man headlining their own movies, while the likes of Falcon, War Machine and Captain Marvel’s Maria Rambeau have played important supporting roles....

A new clip from Escape Plan 2: Hades shows Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista getting into a messy gunfight. The original Escape Plan was sold on the long-awaited team-up between former action rivals Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story featured Stallone’s security expert being dumped inside an “inescapable” prison and teaming up with Arnie’s wise convict to find a way out. While the movie was only a modest hit in North America, it did strong business overseas, leading to a sequel being greenlit in 2016....

Real-life (Oscar winning) couple Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem team up in the trailer for Everybody Knows. This is the new film by Iranian writer/director Asghar Farhadi, whose previous projects include the Foreign Language Oscar-winners A Separation and The Salesman. Cruz stars in Everybody Knows as Laura, a Spanish woman who has been living happily with her husband Alejandro (Ricardo Darín) and two children in Argentina for many years. When Laura returns to her small hometown near Madrid for her sister’s wedding (bringing her kids with her), she is reunited with the rest of her family, as well as Paco (Bardem), a vintner and longtime family friend....

Interestingly, the charging case is more reminiscent of the Powerbeats Pro – which is expected to remain available in the lineup even after the introduction of the new Beats Fit Pro. Apple is also making the Beats Fit Pro more Android-friendly. Like Beats Studio Buds, Beats’ new earbuds will offer quick pairing, battery levels, and custom controls on Android through the Beats app. Beats Fit Pro are currently scheduled to be announced the week of November 1, with shipments beginning a few days later....

With seven films under its belt and a further three confirmed (including Fast & Furious 8, which is currently being filmed), Universal’s Fast & Furious has gone off from being a one-off 2001 action flick starring a bunch of unknown actors driving fast cars into a globally adored, multi-billion dollar movie franchise. F. Gary Gray is directing the eighth Fast & Furious installment, starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris, and Tyrese Gibson, to name a few (not to mention, franchise newcomers such as Oscar-winner Charlize Theron)....

The more famous Marvel Comics characters - Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk - have all been having their day in the sun, but now the spotlight has begun to shift to more obscure Marvel Comics heroes that are beginning to make their names in feature films, like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). The latter superhero will have a key role in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, where he will be taking the side of Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr....

Fox’s Gambit movie now has a production designer, with regular Coen Brothers collaborator Jess Gonchor having landed the gig. The two-time Academy Award nominee has an impressive resumé, which includes True Grit, A Serious Man, No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, Inside Llewlyn Davis, Live by Night, Away We Go, The Devil Wears Prada, and the Coens’ upcoming Netflix series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, among other movies/TV shows....

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will present a whole new set of challenges for Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the heroes. They will have new battles to deal with after defeating Ronan in the original, and it appears the Ravagers may fight back in the sequel. But perhaps the biggest conflict that will face Star-Lord is not the intergalactic kind, but the kind that happens with his own family drama....

Its hard to believe that just a few years ago that moviegoers had little idea of who the Guardians of the Galaxy were. That has since changed since the humorous, space adventure his theaters in 2014. Now, the likes of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket are among the most beloved characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and on toy shelves. While Guardians of the Galaxy did a great job setting up these and the rest of the characters, in order to push the story forward, director James Gunn was not able to include the full backstories to some....

In an exclusive chat, Halloween 2018 producer Ryan Turek explains why the movie’s ending was reshot. Halloween 2018 brought back Jamie Lee Curtis for her fifth time playing the role of Laurie Strode, who has had a bizarre journey through the franchise. In the original, she’s the luckless babysitter who accidentally grabs the attention of serial killer Michael Myers, but the sequel revealed she was actually his sister. While she survived the night, Curtis had no interest in further sequels, so Halloween IV explained the character died offscreen in a car accident....

Director Doug Liman has confirmed the reasons for his departure from the DC Extended Universe film, Justice League Dark . In a recent interview, the filmmaker clarified that scheduling and ongoing commitments made it necessary for him to pass on shooting the movie, as well as the X-Men project Gambit. Justice League Dark is the flip-side of the more famous Justice League, and consists of the more supernaturally-focused members of the DCU, handling situations deemed unfit for the more public superheroes....

Consuming Dragon Ball in North America is shockingly difficult. While being an English-speaking fan, in general, will result in consuming media that is more or less inaccurate to the source material, Dragon Ball’s manga released through Viz is at least generally cohesive and well-translated. Funimation’s anime release, however, has always left a lot to be desired. While Funimation has gradually gotten better at translating the series, they didn’t start so hot....

The 1997 cult classic slasher film Wishmaster features a slew of cameos by some of horror’s all time greats, and here’s a full rundown. Wishmaster is one of those movies that few horror fans would attempt to champion as the best the genre has to offer. That said, it’s still a lot of fun, and is an unapologetic B-movie in the best possible way. It’s got gory kills. cool monster effects, well-done makeup on villain The Djinn, an original premise, amusing one-liners, and best of all, a reverence for the genre....

Leading up to the release of the holiday comedy sequel Bad Santa 2, which once again stars Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo) as the consistently ill-tempered Willie T. Soke, there has already been plenty of red band trailer material for fans of the franchise to enjoy. Directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls) - who takes the wheel from original movie director Terry Zwigoff (Ghost World) - the sequel is all set to see Thornton back as the eponymous mall santa/con-man....

The mid-’90s was something of a golden period for family-centered sitcoms, with programs like Full House, Home Improvement, and Step by Step focusing on the trials and tribulations of large, rowdy broods with hapless fathers, angsty teens, and wacky neighbors. Family Matters, which aired on ABC from 1989 until 1997 (and then on CBS from ‘97-‘98) was centered nicely into the niche left by The Cosby Show, and just to the right of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air....
