Apple released macOS Monterey RC to developers and public beta users earlier today, as the official release is scheduled for October 25. Surprisingly, today’s build comes with new wallpapers from the 2021 MacBook Pro, and you can download them right here. macOS Monterey shares most of the features already introduced with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, including Focus mode for notifications, Portrait mode in FaceTime, Live Text, iCloud+, SharePlay, redesigned Safari, and more....

Dropbox is out today with news that it is refreshing its third-party software integration program with new capabilities and partnerships. Dropbox Extensions will offer new features along with integration from big names like Adobe, Autodesk, Vimeo, Docusign, and more. Announced in a press release, the company says that the new Dropbox Extensions platform will give users an even more powerful and seamless experience by being able to start workflows for many different file types right within Dropbox....

During The Game Awards 2018, Epic Games revealed in a trailer the launch lineup of its new Epic Games Store. The showcase includes the presence and upcoming release of thirteen major titles on the marketplace, excluding games on the store developed by Epic, like Shadow Complex, Unreal Tournament, and Fortnite. Epic Games’ award show reveal features games from a number of veteran publishers, including the likes of THQ Nordic (Darksiders III), Annapurna Interactive (What Remains of Edith Finch), and Supergiant Games (Bastion)....

Apple TV+ has today announced its next original movie release. ‘Swan Song’ will arrive on the service on December 17, alongside a limited theatrical run. The futuristic sci-fi film sees Mahershala Ali in the starring role, as a father facing terminal illness. He is given the chance to replace himself with a clone. Ali appears alongside co-stars Naomie Harris, Awkwafina, Glenn Close and Adam Beach. The film was directed — and written — by Benjamin Cleary....

Martin says if he had his way, Catelyn would have been resurrected as Lady Stoneheart on Game of Thrones. With only one season left of the show, it’s clear Game of Thrones won’t adapt certain key book moments. From locations to plots to characters, many readers of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series have been continually disappointed about what’s been left out of the HBO TV adaptation of the material....

And it’s a strange thing to admit, that an adaptation which is seemingly no longer beholden (as least not as stringently) to its source material is an improvement, but where many of last season’s deviations felt like missteps, the path which season 6 is charting has the show getting back on track....

The upcoming Paul Feig-helmed Ghostbusters movie franchise reboot is but the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to Sony Pictures’ plans for the future of the 1980s-born supernatural horror/comedy property. Case in point: the studio is currently developing a Ghostbusters animated movie and has another live-action Ghostbusters film - one that could feature Channing Tatum as the leader of a (mixed gender) Ghost-Busting team - in the early stages of development, based on a story treatment that was penned by screenwriter Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation)....

Apple has apparently scrapped plans to make a new Apple Silicon Mac Pro with a high-end “M2 Extreme” chip featuring 48 CPU cores and 152 GPU cores. That’s according to Mark Gurman in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter. Gurman also says the new Mac Pro will be manufactured in Vietnam, a stark departure from the “Made in USA” 2019 Intel Mac Pro. The “Extreme” chip would have essentially been a dual M2 Ultra....
