The Happytime Murders is projected to score star Melissa McCarthy’s lowest opening weekend at the box office in four years. Directed by Jim Henson’s son Brian, the film is a far cry from the wholesome, family-friendly entertainment the Jim Henson Company made their brand on. It’s an R-rated twist on the Who Framed Roger Rabbit concept, imagining a world where humans and puppets coexist. When cast members of the popular TV show The Happytime Gang start getting murdered, it’s up to McCarthy’s Connie Edwards and her puppet partner Phil Phillips to crack the case....

After wowing the crowd at EA Play today with announcements about highly-anticipated titles like Battlefield V, Electronic Arts has now confirmed three new EA Originals titles by the developers of A Way Out, Fe and more. Some of these EA Originals will be playable as early as July 5 this year. The EA Originals initiative took off with the game Unravel in 2016, and the label hasn’t looked back since. It’s gone from success to success with A Way Out and Fe, and now the company has released a trailer to tease some upcoming games from those very studios that it’s had under its wing....

Ant-Man & the Wasp actress Evangeline Lilly says the ambiguous ending of Lost was more controversial than the tragic ending of Avengers: Infinity War. It’s been eight years since the series signed off, but fans still can’t stop arguing over the meaning of Lost’s final episode and ending. For a series that delighted in endless mind-bending twists-and-turns, the finale upped the ante even more on puzzling its audience and engendering heated discussion....

Warner Bros.’ ever-evolving DC Extended Universe has a massive slate of projects currently in development - and many of them are focused on the villains in DC’s lineup, from famous faces like the Joker to lesser-known characters like Lobo. It’s unlikely all of them will get made, but it’s becoming clear that Warner Bros. believes the universe’s villains are one of its strongest assets. Suicide Squad may have been greeted by middling reviews, but it was a box office hit that made the likes of Harley Quinn and Deadshot household names....

Now that Deadpool is out, audience attention has quickly turned to his next outing. It’s already confirmed to include another fan favorite character: Cable. Yes, the badass teleporting half techo-organic mutant time-paradox Cable. Cable has been around in X-Men books for years, but has only just now been announced to make his first live action appearance. His long history and involvement in the source material for just about every story Fox is adapting for the X-Men universe over the next few years makes this the perfect time for him to make his big screen debut....

The DC Extended Universe has its work cut out for Warner Bros. in the next several years with various movie projects in active development, as well as those that are currently filming. New Line Cinema is developing a reboot of its Final Destination horror franchise, with Saw sequel writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan attached. It’s no secret that New Line has a long history with the horror genre, as its earliest hit franchise was A Nightmare on Elm Street. As a result, the studio is often referred to as “The House That Freddy Built.” New Line has never really hesitated to embrace horror since, at one point even holding the rights to Freddy’s fellow iconic slashers Jason Voorhees and Leatherface....

Michael Pachter, a gaming industry analyst for Wedbush Securities and a veteran of the business, believes that Sony is making a mistake in skipping E3 2019. Pachter is most famous for his occasionally outlandish predictions, which often become targeted by fans who could be negatively affected by those educated guesses - even though Pachter’s track record is quite good in the first place. Sony’s decision to not have a show at E3 2019 made headlines immediately, and with good reason....

Glass, the conclusion to M. Night Shyamalan’s surprise trilogy, opened to some brutal reviews. One of the most pleasant cinematic surprises of 2017 came in the form of Split, a new horror film from the oft-maligned Shyamalan that saw the director back at his most interesting as a filmmaker. The grimy B-movie-inspired story of a killer with multiple personalities featured career best work from James McAvoy and a retro thriller aesthetic that was a welcome change from some of Shyamalan’s more portentous offerings....

Hank Schrader’s role in Better Call Saul season 5 is setting up to be bigger than expected. One of the main characters in Breaking Bad, fans were excited to learn Dean Norris would reprise the DEA agent in the spinoff series. At this point, Better Call Saul has emerged from the shadow of its parent program and stands on its own merits as one of TV’s finest dramas, but it’s still fun to see the two shows connect with each other....

Though many Potterheads thought they’d left the wizarding world behind back in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, franchise distributor Warner Bros. pleasantly surprised fans when they announced plans for a film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s spin-off book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Now that this finally came to fruition last week with the film’s U.S. and U.K. premiers, fans are eagerly discussing the newest addition to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and patiently awaiting the already confirmed Fantastic Beasts 2....

Fear The Walking Dead’s increasing level of connection to The Walking Dead may be doing the spinoff more harm than good. When Fear The Walking Dead began in 2015, the show sat distinctly apart from the adventures of Rick Grimes. Set on the opposite side of the United States during the very early period of the zombie apocalypse, Fear The Walking Dead offered a different take on Robert Kirkman’s universe of the undead, as military influence corroded and the world struggled to come to terms with the madness happening around them....

Much like the Pokémon franchise, the Final Fantasy series found a foothold in the West with the help of the Internet. While the earlier games in the series had seen a modest success in America (while never being released in Europe at all), the arrival of Final Fantasy VII in 1997 changed everything. It took the series from a cult Nintendo property into a mainstream Sony franchise. The PlayStation offered both 3D graphics and the opportunity to tell more adult stories....

Playing Batman in DC’s Flashpoint movie would be like a dream come true for Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The actor is no stranger to the DC universe. He previously played the Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation in 2009 and then played Thomas Wayne in Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. And now, he’s looking to reprise his role as Thomas in Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s Flashpoint movie, based on the 2011 comic book of the same name written by current DC Films co-chief Geoff Johns....

In true superhero fashion, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot took to Twitter this morning to show her support of a young fan - a boy who chose to take a Wonder Woman backpack and crown to his first day of school. The actress tweeted her thoughts on the situation after an article surfaced on Romper entitled, “My Son Is Busting Gender Stereotypes, But I’m Nervous For His First Day Of School” that features pictures of a young boy beaming while wearing his new Wonder Woman merchandise....

With the Game Of Thrones teaser being dropped and the last season about to start, that’s what most of us are thinking about. But even though the shows is about to end, the two last books are still up in the air, and it’s pretty easy to see why - each book is massive, taking a long time to write and filled with information and details that the show just isn’t long enough to include....

Two new images offer the best look yet at the new Pennywise. Stephen King has created dozens of memorable villains over the course of his writing career, many of which have gone to be immortalized on film, TV, or both. In the 1990s, the small-screen played host to several iconic portrayals of King baddies, including The Stand’s Randall Flagg, Storm of the Century’s Andre Linoge, and likely the most well-known today, Tim Curry’s rendition of Pennywise the Clown in 1990’s IT miniseries....

Although 2018’s God of War set gaming charts alight, developers at Sony’s Santa Monica Studios promise that a fifth game in the core series will be a bigger, longer, and bloodier affair when it eventually hits PS4. As this year’s game reinvented the story of Kratos and flipped the Ghost of Sparta’s life on its head by bringing his son Atreus on board, God of War was just the beginning of an epic story arc....

Warner Bros. has set new release dates for a pair of sequels: Godzilla (2014) followup Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Doctor Sleep, an adaptation of Stephen King’s sequel novel to The Shining. King of the Monsters in particular will be the third entry in WB’s Godzilla and King Kong movie universe (colloquially known as the MonsterVerse), after the Godzilla reboot and last year’s Kong: Skull Island. Doctor Sleep, meanwhile, is expected to be more of an adaptation of King’s original book and not a followup to the famous movie version of The Shining that Stanley Kubrick helmed in 1980....
