Anticipation is high surrounding the theatrical release of the Harry Potter spinoff film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film is based on the first screenplay written by Harry Potter creator/author J.K. The third season of FX’s Fargo just wrapped. Whether you thought the latest installment of Noah Hawley’s quirky Midwestern crime series was the best yet or that the homespun folksiness felt like it was worn too thin, the past 10 episodes still had plenty of to offer. Season 3 was a star-studded affair, so much so that it handed two roles to Ewan McGregor (and twice the McGregor is not a deal anyone wants to pass up), as well as roles for TV MVP Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Thewlis (who, like Coon, is also having something of a moment in 2017), and even Ray Wise and Mary McDonnell....

Idris Elba is in final talks to play the villain in the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff, aka. Hobbs and Shaw. The film sees Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as (respectively) special agent Luke Hobbs and mercenary Deckard Shaw, as the mismatched duo team up on an adventure together. The idea for the spinoff was inspired by the onscreen chemistry between the pair during their scenes in last year’s The Fate of the Furious (which nearly included a post-credits scene that set up the spinoff)....

The First Wives Club is being rebooted as a TV series for Paramount Network. Girls Trip co-writer Tracy Oliver will write and executive produce the comedic story about three divorced friends who grow fed up with their ex-husbands and exact revenge. Based on the 1996 comedy starring Bette Middler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton (which itself was adapted from Olivia Goldsmith’s novel), The First Wives Club TV reboot has garnered the attention of Paramount, which has ordered a 10-episode series scheduled to shoot in New York City....

Guillermo del Toro has added a remake of film noir Nightmare Alley to his directing slate. Halloween 2018 is going to hit theaters on October 19. It is directed by David Gordon Green, who almost directed this fall’s other anticipated horror flick, Suspiria. The latter, which will be directed by Luca Guadagnino, opens on November 2, and it could very well compete with Halloween for the top of the box office during the same week. The first trailer for Halloween 2018 has just been released, and it’ss doing what it’s supposed to - build suspense and create as much hype as possible....

Much has been made lately of Hollywood’s tendency to whitewash characters in movie adaptations, including the casting of Scarlett Johansson as “The Major” in the live-action anime adaptation Ghost In The Shell and the casting of Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in Marvel’s big-screen adaptation of Doctor Strange. Some excuse the practice as just part of the cost of doing business in Hollywood, where investors want to be assured of a maximum return on their investment by seeing the biggest-name actors cast in the movies they’re bankrolling, while others see it as an outmoded practice that needs to be stopped....

Doctor Who stars David Tennant and Catherine Tate are coming back together for an audio drama centered on the latter’s character, Donna Noble. Tennant, the Tenth Doctor from the reboot of the long-running British show, began working with Tate in the mid-2000s and recently, they’ve been collaborating with the company Big Finish on audio dramas that continue the fictional pair’s adventures during the gaps between their seasons of Doctor Who....

Fox’s Dark Phoenix is the last movie in their X-Men franchise, but does it have a post-credits scene offering any extra footage or setting up another film? Twentieth Century Fox launched their mutant superhero franchise in 2000 with Bryan Singer’s X-Men, initially encapsulating a trilogy that completed with 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. Then, Fox kicked off a prequel series with X-Men: First Class in 2011, paving the way for X-Men: Days of Future Past to rewrite the timeline....
