Rocketman is set to be one of the best soundtracks of 2019. The Elton John biopic stars Taron Egerton in the central role, with Jamie Bell as John’s long time lyricist and friend, Bernie Taupin, with Richard Madden as John’s former manager and lover, John Reid. The Rocketman movie follows Elton John’s life from childhood - including his complex relationship with his father and his time at the Royal Academy of Music - to his meeting and working with Bernie Taupin, incorporating all the global fame and addiction issues that followed....

A couple of years after Apple unveiled its first Macs with custom chips, Facebook Messenger has finally been updated to support these machines. With that, those who rely on Messenger to communicate with family, friends, and loved ones will have a better experience when running the app. Without proper release notes, it’s unclear how much Facebook was able to improve the Messenger experience. That said, most developers can make their apps run smoother, waste less battery, and be at least twice as responsive....

Disney and Fox shareholders have voted in favor of the proposed merger. This all but seals the deal on Disney’s proposed purchase of the bulk of Fox’s film and TV assets, given the Department of Justice has already granted approval. In November last year, rumors began to swirl that Disney was in talks to conduct a merger with Fox. Although most attention has focused on the possibility of bringing the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the MCU, Disney’s focus was as much on the importance of increasing its catalog in order to make their upcoming streaming service a true competitor for Netflix....

This year marks the 65th Anniversary of Godzilla. Over the years, the giant kaiju has gotten dozens of movies, gone through several reboots, and fought plenty of other giant monsters. Godzilla started off as a Japanese monster movie developed by Toho, but the character is now known all across the world. The number of movies may seem overwhelming since there are nearly 30 films in the original series alone. The series is broken down into the Shōwa, Heisei, Millennium, and Reiwa periods....

With last year’s Pixel phones, Google introduced new machine learning-powered editing tools that later came to all Android devices with Google One. iOS users with a One subscription now have access to those new filters in Google Photos. Following the Android expansion in February, iOS Google Photos users with a subscription to Google One have access to: Portrait light: Change the position and brightness of light for photos of people. Blur: Blur the background on certain photos of people not captured in portrait mode....

Gotham returns to our screens for a third season next week, and the Batman-inspired police drama promises plenty of exciting new developments. After season 2 saw Hugo Strange’s monsters released on the city of Gotham, one of the biggest changes this season will be the inclusion of many more “superpowered” villains, and the return of some previously-deceased characters. Since, of course, death is never permanent in comic books. One of the most anticipated resurrections for the show is that of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), presumed to be the show’s Joker....

Gotham actor David Mazouz has stated his desire to introduce Clark Kent and the wider Bat-Family into the show in some capacity and has shared some of his ideas on how the series could go about doing so. Gotham recently aired its winter finale episode and Mazouz’s young incarnation of Bruce Wayne is heading down a decidedly dark path. Having seemingly murdered Ra’s Al-Ghul and breaking his “no killing” rule, Bruce put the brakes on his crime-fighting career, fearing that he lacked the self-control required to be Gotham City’s hero....

The first half of Gotham season 2 was labeled “Rise of the Villains,” and as promised, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the GCPD came out on the losing end of more than a few battles. It doesn’t look much better for the good guys in the second half of the year, titled “Wrath of the Villains.” Villainy abhors a vacuum, and with big baddie Theo Galavan defeated (for now), Gotham is introducing a powerful adversary immediately on the show’s midseason premiere....

Grand Theft Auto is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, and for good reason. The series has helped define open-world games and has been Rockstar’s chief series since their inception. One of the driving forces behind the studio has always been its co-founders, Dan and Sam Houser, who also functioned as producers and writers on most of Rockstar’s games. In February 2020, Rockstar announced that Dan Houser would be stepping down from his role as Vice President and be leaving the company....

It’s been 40 years since Laurie Strode faced off against Michael Myers in John Carpenter’s Halloween, and Jame Lee Curtis has officially confirmed that Laurie “has been waiting for him” ever since. Though very few plot details have been released for director David Gordon Green’s direct sequel to the 1978 original, Curtis’ comment has given audiences a taste of what her Halloween character has been up to over the past four decades....

Without doubt, a large part of the Doctor’s enduring appeal comes from the permanent aura of mystery surrounding the character. The past 50 years’ worth of episodes may have revealed the Doctor’s planet of origin and motivation for leaving, as well as some salient details regarding the history and science of the Time Lords themselves, but even in 2018 precious little is known about the Doctor’s pre-TARDIS days on Gallifrey....

The full soundtrack list for Baby Driver has been released, setting up the next big music-driven action movie that drives the plot with carefully chosen music. The upcoming heist flick centers on a getaway driver with tinnitus who uses music to drown out the noise, and times his escapes to the songs that he listens to. Now, the music-driven Baby (Ansel Elgort) is trying to leave his life of crime for a life of love, and there are plenty of old ‘friends’ out to stop him....

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald actually improved on some areas of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter canon. Second in the Fantastic Beasts series, the sequel sees the battle against Grindelwald escalate, with characters forced to choose sides in the coming war. Naturally, given these movies are part of Rowling’s meticulously-crafted Wizarding World franchise, a lot of attention has focused in on just how these stories affect the canon. The Fantastic Beasts films were, at best, stories Rowling never expected to tell....

Firewatch may not have lit the gaming world on fire when it released earlier this year, but it did benefit from overall positive reviews and an experience uncommon in the mainstream gaming world. The indie game by developer Campo Santo is a blend of a lonely walk through the great outdoors and an intensely concerted effort to explore human nature at its most raw. Firewatch has no combat, no puzzles (other than its unfolding mystery), and almost no human interaction outside the woman on the other side of your walkie-talkie....

We are still trying our best to heal and move on from the fact that our favorite show of all time Game of Thrones has officially come to an end. It seems almost cruel to wrap up a show that we’ve all grown so attached to, yet in the words of Stephen King in regards to the latest season of GOT, “all good things” must eventually come to an end....

After waiting over a year between seasons, fans finally got to return to the world of Game of Thrones with the premiere episode of its seventh season. With the season being delayed due to production requirements for the show’s new Winter climate, and set to be the shortest of any of the seasons to date, the anticipation surrounding Game of Thrones has been higher than it’s ever been before....

With the recent release of the full length trailer, promotion for the Paul Feig directed reboot of Ghostbusters is now in full swing. Focusing on a new team, the film boasts a cast of comedy all stars with Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates and Saturday Night Live veterans Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as Patty Tolan and Jillian Holtzmann, respectively. The film is already one of 2016’s most anticipated movies, and both its quality and box office performance will be under a microscope as the “gender-swapped” team has already caused quite a bit of controversy....

When it comes to franchises and universes based within those franchises, both the allegiance and opinions of fans can create no small amount of disagreement. For quite some time now, Marvel and 20th Century Fox have been building their own onscreen universe that has incorporated some of the most famous superheroes in the world.
