Female directors, writers, and producers have been speaking about the challenges they face, as have people of color in the same positions. The #OscarsSoWhite controversy drew attention to the limited numbers of roles for actors of color. And the Hollywood practice of ‘whitewashing’ is starting to be called out....

The current buzz surrounding Gilmore Girls is whether the revival will get a second season or not. In 2016, fans of the series were treated to 4 episodes that sought to answer a few questions that it’s premature end in 2007 left unanswered. The miniseries on Netflix was well received by fans, who had petitioned for a comeback, maybe a reunion movie. Majority of the original cast reunited in the reunion, allowing showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino to finally end the series on her own terms....

Grand Theft Auto Online’s Diamond Casino update released this week and players in multiple countries around the world are unable to access many of the new features due to regional gaming restrictions, essentially creating something like gambling but worse. GTA Online has had dozens of free content updates over the past six years, from high-rise crime boss missions to letting players purchase their own party yachts, but this is the first time that the game’s casino, formerly a half-constructed building, has ever been open to the public....

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in the midst of a new movie drought. Doctor Strange was released several months ago, but there is still another two months to go until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters. Building off the success of the first film, Marvel appears to be confident as ever during the marketing campaign for the sequel, holding back as much as possible to surprise theatergoers....

Guillermo del Toro’s stop-motion animated Pinocchio movie adaptation has officially landed at Netflix. The Oscar-winning filmmaker started developing the project back in 2011, but has struggled to gain the financing needed to actually start production since then. Between Disney moving forward on its own live-action Pinocchio retelling and del Toro having not really spoken about his animated take on Carlo Collodi’s classic fairy tale in about a year, most of the director’s fans had probably assumed the project was dead in the water, at this point....

Blumhouse’s Halloween 2 is reportedly gearing up to start filming this fall for an October 2020 release date. The iconic slasher franchise turned forty last year and ended up celebrating its birthday in pretty high fashion, thanks to the release of filmmaker David Gordon Green and Blumhouse’s Halloween. A reboot-sequel that ignored all but the events of John Carpenter’s original 1978 horror classic, the new Halloween earned largely positive reviews and grossed $255 million at the global box office against a $10 million budget....

Now, the Bachelorette star has given fans more details about how she felt that night with Parker. Fans will see if this is the final straw for Brown, after giving him multiple second chances. After years of buildup, the DC cinematic universe has arrived - with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hitting theaters. Built on Man of Steel’s backbone, or rather the collateral damage of Superman and General Zod’s disastrous grudge match, Batman V Superman sets the stage for other DC heroes and villains to step onto the big screen. Google Fi is rolling out a trio of updates today that are focused on the MVNO’s international experience when traveling, starting with Wi-Fi calling for iPhone subscribers. Wi-Fi calling with Google Fi is now coming to the iPhone after years of Google Fi only supporting Android. This is ideal when in large buildings or underground on the subway, as well as internationally. If both Wi-Fi and cellular are available, Google says it will “route your call over whichever one gives you the best connection....

After previously being bought back from its distributor Lionsgate, John Travolta-fronted mob biopic Gotti secures a new release date. Filmed in 2016, Gotti was originally set to be released last December. However, that didn’t end up happening, due to producers being unhappy with the release the film was set to receive. Lionsgate - through its Lionsgate Premiere imprint - was planning to give Gotti a limited theatrical release, day and date with a VOD release....

In a recent interview, Green Lantern Corps writer and producer Geoff Johns insisted that the upcoming film can’t just be DC’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Earlier this year, Warner Brothers announced that Johns would pen the script for the upcoming Worlds of DC film, Green Lantern Corps. Fans were thrilled by the announcement, and after years of stagnation, it seemed like the project was finally moving forward. Johns is seemingly the perfect fit for the film, having previously written the most successful and acclaimed Green Lantern comics run in recent memory....

This week, analyst Ross Young reported Apple is planning a larger iPad Pro for early 2023. The model would bet on a 14.1-inch display with ProMotion and mini-LED technology. That said, one would expect that Apple could scrap its plans to launch a new iPad Pro model in 2022. According to Mark Gurman, no, Apple is still expected to update its Pro lineup this year. In his latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says a new iPad Pro is expected for later September or October....

The previously announced live-action Dora the Explorer movie has found its director and set a release date. Dora the Explorer first came to life on Nick Jr in 2000. Since then, the franchise has gone on to spawn a multi-billion dollar merchandise empire, including books, toys, and clothing, and spin-off shows galore. It’s hard to find a parent of any child born in the last 18 years who hasn’t spent some time watching the show, and also wondering how a small child and her pet monkey can be left unsupervised to go exploring....
