In Tin Star, Roth plays a former British detective and recovering alcoholic who moves his family to the tucked-away Canadian Rockies town of Little Big Bear in search of a peaceful life. Trouble finds Roth when a huge new oil refinery opens in the town, bringing a flood of migrant workers and an attendant rise in drugs, gambling, and prostitution. Roth runs afoul of the oil company and soon finds himself and his family being targeted, which brings Roth’s buried dark side back out of hiding....

You’ve heard the argument a million times - DC’s movies aren’t fun like Marvel’s. They lack the ability to step back and let the source material speak for itself, try too hard to be “edgy,” and heaven forbid they crack a joke every once and a while. Though the films have been trying to right the ship for a while now (with moderate success), Wonder Woman is still the only DC movie since Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy to hold a candle to the best of the superhero genre....

Before the release of the iPhone SE 3 next week, an early Geekbench score shows that this new phone has a similar performance to the iPhone 13. Not only that but both smartphones share 4GB of RAM. The Geekbench test is a benchmark tool for comparing the performance of smartphones and other devices. The “iPhone14,6” (which is the iPhone SE 3 internal identifier) scored 1695 in a single-core while it scored 4021 in a multi-core test....

Why did Gotham recast Poison Ivy twice throughout its five-season run? Gotham started life as a TV series exploring the titular city before the rise of Batman and his rogue’s gallery. Gotham’s protagonist is James Gordon, possibly the only honest cop left in the entire city, while the show also follows young Bruce Wayne in the aftermath of his parents’ death. While the show had its share of dark and violent scenes, it wasn’t afraid to get a little campy and goofy either....

This year saw the end for some shows airing on SyFy, as the network cleaned house. Movie fans hoping for a quality showdown in Batman V Superman have endured some serious highs and lows in the lead-up to release. Months back, earlier Dawn of Justice trailers leaned heavily on DC iconography and Zack Snyder’s trademark visual aesthetic to sell both comic book readers and casual fans on the titular showdown - only to open spoiler-filled floodgates in later marketing. Now, just ahead of release, Batman V Superman reviews are even more divisive than Man of Steel - with overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth coming out of fan screenings, only to see critics shred the movie two days later....

The jukebox musical biopic Rocketman stars Taron Egerton as Elton John, but does it have a post-credits scene? The last year has seen two high profile biopics following music legends, the first being Bryan Singer’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and the second being Rocketman. In fact, both films feature the music manager John Reid (played by Richard Madden in Rocketman and Aidan Gillen in Bohemian Rhapsody) since he managed both Queen and Elton John....

It’s unfortunate that the plot of Double Cross deals with alternate realities and dimensions. This makes it impossible to not imagine a universe where Double Cross is an outstanding platformer as opposed to this universe where it’s merely a mediocre one. Developed by indie upstart 13AM Games and published by Graffti Games Double Cross attempts to launch itself to the top of the Switch’s growing library of stellar platformers. It doesn’t hit the mark....

Battlestate Games, the Russian developer of online FPS Escape from Tarkov, is having negative YouTube videos taken down en masse, and it’s turned the Escape from Tarkov community against it in the process. The situation arose when Croatian YouTuber and streamer Eroktic had dozens of his videos removed from YouTube following copyright strikes issued by Battlestate. These videos were removed automatically by YouTube despite the fact that none of them violate copyright law, and Battlestate’s response to the online backlash it has received only highlights the absurdity of its claims....

iPhone assembler Foxconn has bought an EV factory in Ohio in a $230M deal. The purchase was made from electric vehicle startup Lordstown Motors. While a key Apple supplier buying an EV plant in the US will inevitably create speculation about potential Apple Car production, this appears unlikely … The Verge reports that the deal will see the two companies work together to manufacture electric pickups at the plant. Foxconn is also injecting cash into the struggling startup by buying $50M worth of Lordstown Motors shares....

Sean Astin came close to directing the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and was eyeing Christina Aguilera for the role of Sue Storm, the actor himself has revealed. In the early days of the superhero movie explosion, when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was just a twinkle in Kevin Feige’s eye, 20th Century Fox released the first big-budget Fantastic Four movie, and while the film did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel, reaction from fans and critics leaned heavily towards the negative side....

The public drama brewing between Fast and Furious costars continues to rage on with Tyrese Gibson delivering yet another harshly worded statement regarding Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s upcoming spinoff movie. Universal Pictures’s decision to push back Fast and Furious 9 to April 2020 (from its original April 2019 release date) came mere days after Gibson had publicly pleaded with Johnson not to prioritize his spinoff film with Jason Statham - which would focus on the adventures of Johnson’s DSS Agent Luke Hobbs and Stathams’ former SAS Officer Deckard Shaw - over that of the mainline saga....

There’s no action franchise like The Fast & The Furious which not only kept its core cast around for the longest time but continues to tell their same connected stories while escalating the stakes. After eight movies, the franchise continues to dominate the box office and won’t be ending any time soon. Before watching its first spin-off Hobbs & Shaw and while waiting for Fast & Furious 9 to burn asphalt in cinemas, there’s no better time than now to revisit the series featuring fast cars and Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) beloved family....

Mozilla is celebrating the 100th version of its Firefox browser today with the new launch for both Mac and iOS (PC, Linux, and Android too). For Mac, Firefox is gaining improvements to its Picture-in-Picture mode, a new language switcher, and more today. Meanwhile, iOS gets clutter-free tabs and history plus new wallpapers later this week. After first announcing Firefox 1.0 back in 2004, Mozilla arrived at its 100th build of the browser 18 years later....

Over 14 years after it went off the air, Friends remains one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. The show centering on the daily lives and zany antics of Phoebe, Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, and Joey earned legions of fans who still quote the show liberally, catch episodes on streaming video and seemingly endless broadcast re-runs, and campaign for a revival. Golden Globe-nominated actor R. Lee Ermey has died at age 74. Although he is probably best known for his role as Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, Ermey made a career of bringing no-nonsense military personnel to life on the big screen. One of Ermey’s first roles was as a chopper pilot in Apocalypse Now, during which time he also acted as a technical advisor to Francis Ford Coppola. After some minor film parts, the actor was meant to advise on another movie as well: Full Metal Jacket....

After fifteen years on the air and no end in sight, Grey’s Anatomy remains very respected for having such a diverse cast of characters. It was always more character-focused than it was plot-driven, and that’s what has caused so many fans to cherish it deeply. The quality of Grey’s has undeniably lacked in later seasons, with so many long-time viewers desperately missing the series’ golden years. But Grey’s Anatomy still excels when it comes to its characters....
