The Quartermaines and the Spencers add some spice and drama to the riveting soap opera, General Hospital. [SPOILERS for those not caught up on Gotham ahead.] - Gotham wrapped up the first half of its third season with ‘Beware The Green-Eyed Monster’, with the fall finale seeing Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) racing to save his ex-lover from her unstable fiancé and Bruce, Alfred and Selena teaming up to steal from the mysterious Court of Owls. Much of Gotham’s narrative this season has revolved around the introduction of Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) and the growing presence of the Court of Owls in the city, whilst also finding time to deal with at least some of Gordon’s many personal demons - as he journeyed from downbeat mercenary to respected member of the GCPD once again....

Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn has taken to social media to confirm some of the central themes of the films. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are some of Marvel’s most humorous, but they’re also a lot darker than fans actually think. Gamora and Nebula, for example, are dealing with a twisted, tortured relationship defined by years of Thanos’s abuse. Drax is seeking revenge after the slaughter of his family....

Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that production on the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie adaptation will get underway later this week. Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe filmmaker André Øvredal will be serving as director on the project, which is based on a script that del Toro cowrote. While del Toro has been developing the Scary Stories movie since 2016, the big screen take on Alvin Schwartz’s best-selling spooky stories collections (which were published in the 1980s and early ’90s) has been in development since as far back as 2013....

Doctor Who has created some truly memorable villains. Only some can really stand the test of time though and the Cybermen have managed to outlive everything we could have expected of them. They are one of the three core villains of the show. While the Daleks and the Master both offer up a significant threat, the Cybermen have often acted as the villains for the finale of a series. But there’s still plenty we don’t know about this race of metal men....

At this point it’s impossible to deny the appeal of the Fast & Furious franchise, with the latest film, Fate of the Furious, delivering the biggest box office opening ever. Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot’s international thriller Red Notice has moved back from June 2020 to a November 2020 release date. The two actors made a proper name for themselves while appearing in the Fast & Furious series together and have since gone on to become Hollywood superstars in their own right - with Gadot now playing Wonder Woman in DC’s movie universe and Johnson having starred in (lucrative) tentpoles like San Andreas, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Rampage, among many others....

As Sony’s God of War turns the long-running series into a father-son adventure, early drafts of the game are said to have been like a “child-abuse simulator.” For the latest game in the bloodthirsty saga, Sony’s Santa Monica Studios decided for a change of direction by taking the Ghost of Sparta to a whole new location. While swapping three-headed hydras for hammer-throwing trolls might have been unique enough to lure players back to God of War, there was also the new addition of Kratos’ son Atreus....

Emily Blunt confirms she was never in the running for the lead role in Captain Marvel. One of the biggest cheers Marvel Studios generated during their Phase 3 slate announcement in 2014 was the confirmation that Carol Danvers was getting a solo movie. Once that announcement was made, the fan casting for the MCU’s soon-to-be most powerful hero kicked into high gear. The result generated a ton of high profile names for Marvel to consider, and the role wound up going to recent Oscar-winner Brie Larson....

Tonight marks the 74th Emmy Awards, and as expected, Apple TV+ had a strong showing thanks to Ted Lasso. The Apple TV+ hit comedy scored a number of awards throughout the night. Jason Sudeikis took home the award for Outstanding Lead in a Comedy Series for his role in Ted Lasso. The show Ted Lasso itself also took home the top prize of the night. Apple TV+ went into the night with 52 Primetime Emmy nominations across a number of different categories, and it was a consistent stream of wins throughout the night....

Again, Deadpool is up to his usual shenanigans in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 with a new set of Deadpool Challenges. The week three Deadpool challenges are yet again fairly easy to complete with the first challenge taking place inside of Deadpool’s secret hideout. However, the second task has players actually completing a task inside an actual game of Fortnite. In the two weeks prior all of the Deadpool challenges could be completed before a player even left the Battle Bus, with only one of the four prior challenges requiring players to enter a game of Fortnite....

Disney and Fox have agreed upon a bigger acquisition deal following a competing bid by Comcast. The last several months in Hollywood have come with massive changes to the studio structure. The biggest deal that will have major ramifications for the industry moving forward is Fox’s decision to sell its movie and TV divisions. A bidding war quickly began with Comcast and Disney viewed as the most serious parties, and despite a higher offer from Comcast, Fox and Disney agreed to a deal worth $53 billion late last year....

21st Century Fox shareholders won’t vote on The Walt Disney Company’s buyout offer until the week after San Diego Comic-Con. Last year, Disney made an offer to acquire 21st Century Fox’s movie and TV assets, namely 20th Century Fox, for over $54 billion in stock. While everything was progressing smoothly behind-the-scenes, the recent AT&T/Time Warner merger ended up being the impetus for an aggressive bidding war. AT&T and Time Warner winning antitrust approval allowed Comcast to provide Fox shareholders with a much higher buyout offer than Disney was proposing, which eventually led to the Mouse House submitting yet another bid....

Nintendo Switch owners won’t have to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service to enjoy free-to-play games, even though they focus exclusively on online and multiplayer play. This confirms previous rumors that the paid service will have no impact on free-to-play games like the recently released Fortnite. Online play for the Nintendo Switch has been free since the console’s launch in March 2017. However, that will change when Nintendo Switch Online goes live in September....

A new tweet by Gal Gadot is inadvertently reminding fans of one hairy situation that plagued Justice League in post-production. Featuring the long-awaited union of some of DC Comics greatest superheroes on the big screen, Justice League was a critical and financial disappointment, coming in with the lowest box office gross of any DC Extended Universe film to date both domestically and overseas. The production was beset with serious issues, starting with a personal tragedy that led to director Zack Snyder stepping down and former Marvel’s The Avengers helmer Joss Whedon stepping in to finish the film....

The Star Wars-themed Disneyland attraction Galaxy’s Edge opened its doors to the public on Friday, and although there are a great deal of costumes available on site, any adults who buy one unfortunately won’t be allowed to wear it during their visit. Another Galaxy’s Edge attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to open in late August. Galaxy’s Edge is set on the planet Batuu, with a storyline taking place between the events of The Last Jedi and the forthcoming The Rise of Skywalker involving the growth in power of both the First Order and the Resistance, and featuring attractions such as flying the Millennium Falcon and being caught up in battle between the opposing factions....

Depending on your point of view, Game of Thrones either went out with a whimper or a bang with its final season. The long-running fantasy drama that had been providing gut-wrenching character arcs and complex storylines for almost a decade had a lot of expectations to meet and only six episodes to make it happen. Its eighth season not only meant the end of years of fan theorizing - it also meant the end of memes devoted to it....

The medical procedural drama is a television genre that has become pretty popular over the years. They follow a similar formula — a patient shows up with a dramatic, life-threatening ailment, the doctors treat them or operate on them, and the patient either lives or tragically passes away. Plenty of television shows out there have added their own styles and twists on this formula, but arguably none have done so as well as Grey’s Anatomyon ABC....

Last year, rumors about the iPhone 13 getting satellite connectivity started to spread. Although this iPhone didn’t get the feature, it’s rumored that the upcoming iPhone 14 could have it for emergencies or to send short texts to emergency contacts when out of cellular service range. Now, according to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next Apple Watch could also feature this extra technology. In his Power On newsletter, the journalist says ”the Apple Watch is also destined to get that functionality,” although Gurman believes Apple’s timeframe could be this year or 2023....
