Despite mixed reviews from fans and critics over Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad, hopes are high that next year’s Wonder Woman will be the resounding crowd pleaser the DCEU has been waiting for. Despite her nimble frame, Gadot cast a superhero-sized shadow in her debut this year, walking away as one of the least divisive aspects of Batman v Superman. Wonder Woman may not have been necessary to the plot, but with a perfect costume, a perfect score, and perfect poise, when the dust cleared there were few complaints that Gadot was Wonder Woman....

In a series based on the premise of endless war and battles for power like HBO’s Game of Thrones, shocking betrayals are pretty much a guarantee. Whether the betrayals occur on the battlefield, in the heat of conflict, or in the privacy of a bedroom, these shocking turns of events lead to some of the series’ most emotionally compelling and attention-grabbing stories. Certain betrayals seem almost completely telegraphed from the very beginning, and therefore don’t come as much of a surprise to even the most casual viewer....

[SPOILERS ahead for Game of Thrones season 6, episode 6.] - Game of Thrones season 6, episode 5, “The Door”, was a (pardon the phrasing) game-changer in more ways than one; not only because Hodor’s (Kristian Nairn) backstory was revealed through Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) visions even as Hodor’s fate was sealed in the present, but also because it confirmed what had been suggested by an earlier season 6 episode: that Bran can, in fact, affect the past with his visions....

It was without a doubt the most controversial moment of Game of Thrones season 5, and possibly of the entire series: When the character of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) was raped by her new husband, Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) at the conclusion of the season’s sixth episode. While some Game of Thrones fans defended the scene as necessary to convey the evil of Ramsey, and to ultimately set up (satisfying) revenge for Sansa, others felt it was unnecessary development in the storyline of a beloved character - one they had watched grow from childhood over the course of many seasons....

Anticipation for writer/director Paul Feig’s impending reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise has many fans of the original films of the 1980s in a state of fevered anticipation and cautious excitement. Many viewers are undoubtedly curious as to how well Feig’s take on the classic comedy series will fare (as led by a cast of all-star comediennes), though by the looks of things the production is in good hands and should be something to watch out for when the movie hits theaters....

Still, perhaps no character’s demise earned more upset reactions from fans than that of Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun). A regular since the beginning, Glenn was in some ways the moral backbone of Rick’s group, especially during times where Rick himself seemed to be losing his way....

The Doctor Who Christmas special is an annual tradition now, and one which fans thoroughly enjoy since, broadly speaking, the specials are lighter in tone, more comedic, and an all-round enjoyable standalone episode. This year’s special will no doubt be greeted eagerly since Doctor Who has been off of our screens since the end of season nine, with season ten not set to air until spring 2017. We already know that the new companion, Bill (Pearl Mackie), won’t make her debut this Christmas, and the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) will be sharing his festive adventure with a temporary companion (thought to be Matt Lucas as Nardole), but beyond that, we don’t know much else....

After a long period of silence, Escape Plan 2: Hades is set to open in UK cinemas this summer. The original Escape Plan featured the long-awaited pairing of former action movie rivals Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The two had briefly appeared together in The Expendables franchise, but Escape Plan marked their first feature-length collaboration.
