When Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters back in 2014, it seemed a bit risky. After all, the film was unlike anything the MCU had presented before, taking place entirely on planets that weren’t Earth, presenting Star Wars-esque space battles, and featuring a talking racoon and sentient tree among its titular team. Guardians also took a risk by casting a newly-buff Chris Pratt as the lead hero, an actor then primarily known for comedic work, with no notable action experience....

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has revealed that the Guardians’ new ship - featured in Avengers: Infinity War - is called The Benatar. The epic superhero movie sees two worlds collide as the Guardians team up with the Avengers to prevent Thanos from collecting all six Infinity Stones. Unfortunately, one character who doesn’t make it into the movie is Star-Lord’s original ship, The Milano, which was severely damaged during the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol....

Director Guillermo del Toro is currently basking in a wealth of positive reviews for his latest movie The Shape of Water, but apparently he’s still having no luck getting one of his most personal projects off the ground. Currently at the Venice Film Festival, the Mexican filmmaker spoke to journalists about his hopes for the stop-motion version of Pinocchio, which he still wants to make. The filmmaker has had a long relationship with the more fantastic side of cinema, from his earlier horror films like Cronos and The Devil’s Backbone, to the big studio films like Pacific Rim and Hellboy....

A new behind-the-scenes video for Doom teases an action scene from the film. The original Doom video game was a groundbreaking title for the first person shooter genre, with the plot following a lone marine – dubbed Doomguy – around a base on Mars as he blasts demons from Hell. The game became instantly iconic and the series is still running strong to this day, with the latest entry in 2016 receiving rave reviews....

CCP Games has officially unveiled EVE: Echoes, previously titled EVE: Project Galaxy, a brand-new mobile game set in an alternate universe of EVE Online’s New Eden. Developed by NetEase Games in partnership with CCP Games, EVE: Echoes is aiming for a 2019 global release date (will launch in Chinese market first) on iOS and Android. EVE: Echoes is a separate mobile game from EVE: War of Ascension (published by Kongregate) which is an original strategy game, and they’ll release at different times....

UPDATE: Our Fantastic Beasts 2 theory had been confirmed! Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald may explain the backstory to Voldemort’s snake, Nagini. The prequel film series is ostensibly focused on Grindelwald’s rise to power, and the terror he inflicted upon the wizarding communities across Europe during the 1930s and 40s. However, it seems as though J.K. Rowling is also working on weaving in many elements from Harry Potter into the Fantastic Beasts story, so that eventually the whole arc of 13 movies, from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, will exist as a complete whole....

Paul Austerberry reveals Guillermo del Toro’s original vision for Pacific Rim 2. Universal Pictures released del Toro’s monster mash movie, Pacific Rim, in 2013. Although the movie earned decent reviews from critics and was generally liked by audiences, it underperformed at the domestic box office and relied entirely upon its international haul to justify future installments. While del Toro originally planned on making Pacific Rim 2 himself in addition to developing a tie-in TV series, he, unfortunately, had to bow out in February 2016....

After years of little activity, Don’t Breathe 2 is finally moving forward, but making it without original director Fede Alvarez is a mistake.
