It’s been a few years since the last real push for a new film version of Frank Herbert’s Dune. While both the 1984 David Lynch film and the SyFy miniseries have their fans, both were missing something when it came to really capturing Dune. Given the scope of the novel (not even counting the sequels that Herbert wrote) and the depth of the lore, some fans may wonder if we’ll ever get something that comes close to getting the look and feel of Dune right....

Starting this summer, you can create and play games using the Unreal Engine on iOS and Mac. Core, a free and currently PC-only app, is available on the Epic Games Store. The app itself is run on the Unreal Engine from developer Manticore Games. This news comes on Core’s one-year anniversary on the Epic Games Store, where there are more than 50,000 playable “games, worlds, and events.” There will be crossplay between iOS, macOS, and Windows versions of the Core app....

Not much has been revealed about Steven Spielberg’s Halo TV show at Showtime, but it has been announced that the series’ story will not be based on any of the games and likely won’t premiere until 2020. The upcoming blockbuster series is an adaptation of the Xbox games that center on Master Chief, who leads humanity in a war against a race of aliens known as The Covenant. Stage Manager will be coming to more iPad Pros with iPadOS 16, and that’s a policy change worth applauding. Apple originally planned to limit the new multitasking feature to iPads powered by its M1 chip. While there are some drawbacks of this feature shift, the change bodes well for the original class of iPads. Onward is Pixar’s latest movie to release, but there’s plenty more to come from the Disney studio. Onward, directed by Dan Scanlon, marks the studio’s 22nd feature film since Pixar was founded in 1986. The studio has set the bar high for animation over the last few decades, garnering an astounding 10 Best Animated Feature awards at the Oscars.
