The Dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar and Inception filmmaker Christopher Nolan will try his hand at a different genre - the historical drama - in next year’s Dunkirk. The film was also written by Nolan and recounts the true story of the evacuation of Allied soldiers (hailing from Belgium, Britain and France) from the harbor of Dunkirk during World War II, when they were surrounded by the German army. Those who are eager to learn more about the film will soon get their chance, as the opening minutes of Dunkirk will be screened with select prints of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in IMAX theaters this month....

In a move that is somehow still surprising despite the company’s long history of questionable video game ethics, publisher EA made headlines earlier today when the company attempted to rebrand loot boxes as “surprise mechanics” instead. EA’s introduction of loot boxes into its games has already been one of the industry’s biggest controversies in recent years, with the blowback on Battlefront 2 loot boxes so large that the publisher was forced to change the entire system so that players would give the game a chance....

Twitter is readying the ability for users to edit tweets. This long-requested feature was first seen as an April Fools’ Day joke and then later confirmed by the company that this is in fact happening. Now, we have more info on how editing tweets will actually work. According to developer and app researcher Nima Owji, Twitter is working on a timer for when you’re editing a tweet, and it will appear when you’re editing it....

The Primetime Emmy Awards have seen fit to invite a few new nominees for its 68th annual outing. For an award ceremony that has a tendency to pick a horse and stick with it year after year, the appearance of new challengers in the race is a welcome sign, even if it’s rare and certainly belated in one case. These nominees make this year’s awards ceremony a difficult thing to predict the outcome of, as gauging the voters’ interest in an upset versus their desire to see a repeat is thrown out of whack in some cases....

Warning: SPOILERS for Uncanny X-Men Annual Even Marvel is admitting they made a mistake by killing off the X-Men’s Cyclops. The X-Men’s greatest leader died in the 2016 crossover event “Death of X,” among the first to be poisoned after exposure to the Inhumans’ Terrigen Mists. It was a somewhat anticlimactic death for one of the Original Five X-Men, after he had beaten foes like Magneto, Apocalypse, and Mr. Sinister. Fans were absolutely furious....

The Fantastic Four are confirmed to join Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order as DLC characters. The announcement came during the Nintendo Direct livestream event from E3 2019. The Nintendo Switch exclusive is the long-awaited third installment in the beloved Marvel Ultimate Alliance co-op series, spiritual successors to the X-Men Legends games. The third Ultimate Alliance adventure unites the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, the Defenders, the Inhumans, and the Spider-Verse for a battle with Thanos and the Black Order in a hunt to find the Infinity Stones....

The Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw has gotten an official title and a new first look image. The possibility of a Fast and Furious spinoff film has been floating around for a few years now, and the first spinoff will feature Dwayne Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs, who first appeared in Fast Five, teaming up with Jason Statham’s character Deckard Shaw, who was first seen as the villain of Furious 7....

New photos and concept art from the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns have been revealed online. Over 50 years after the release of the original Mary Poppins in 1964, Disney is finally releasing a long-awaited sequel to their musical classic next December. Breaking from the mold of the House of Mouse’s recent attempts to remake their beloved collection of animated films in live-action format, Mary Poppins Returns is a direct follow-up to the original film....

Reactions were mixed when Apple last month revealed its approach to flexible working post-pandemic. CEO Tim Cook announced that staff would be expected to return to the office three days a week, but would, with line management approval, be free to work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays. Cook described the arrangement as a temporary one, and appeared to be hinting at a fuller return to work next year … Some hailed the new policy as a generous one....

Timothy Hutton (American Crime) has joined the cast of Y, FX’s TV pilot based on the comic book series Y: The Last Man, as the President of the United States. However, given that the show’s premise is every mammal with a Y chromosome on the planet (with the exception of protagonist Yorick Brown and his pet monkey, Ampersand) dying simultaneously, it’s safe to say that Hutton probably won’t stick around if Y is ordered to series....

Back in 2018, the long-dormant Halloween franchise came back in a big way thanks to its latest installment. Simply titled Halloween, the new movie ignored every sequel and remake that came after John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic and continued where it left off. After almost a decade, the original slasher killer Michael Myers returned to stalk his onscreen victims and instill fear in audiences. As simple as the premise of a masked man on a murder spree may be, the Halloween series is actually more complicated than expected....

The end is nigh for CBS’s interpretation of the Sherlock Holmes character as the network announces Elementary will end after season 7. It turns out that Tom Holland wasn’t the only one in charge of trying to hold back Avengers: Endgame spoilers, the actors in Spider-Man: Far From Home knew what happened in the Avengers’ climactic finale before some of the latter’s actors knew. Far From Home is the final movie in the MCU’s Phase 3, and follows everyone’s favorite web-slinger moments after the events in Endgame. In the sophomore outing for Marvel and Sony’s Friendly Neighborhood Superhero, Peter Parker heads to Europe on a recreational trip with his friends....

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was such a highly anticipated movie that the teaser trailer alone racked up 88 million views during its first 24 hours online. That’s an astonishing number for sure, but even more astonishing, earlier this year the teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action adaptation Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson as Belle, managed to amass an incredible 91.8 million views during the same timeframe. Both are from Disney, both are incredibly family-friendly and both have huge fanbases....

In a new teaser for the upcoming comedy Fighting with My Family, The Rock has specific advice for two aspiring professional wrestlers. Dwayne Johnson not only steps into character as his famous WWE persona, but offers a lyrical monologue on charisma and trash talk in a scene from the film. Directed by longtime Ricky Gervais collaborator Stephen Merchant, the film is based on The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family, Max Fisher’s Channel 4 documentary about Saraya-Jade Bevis, otherwise known as Paige....

The second set of character skin variant challenges are here in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2, and this week’s challenges will unlock players the new TNTina Ghost or Shadow skin variant. The last set of challenges was to unlock the Shadow or Ghost version of Brutus, and the TNTina challenges look as if they are following the same pattern. To unlock the new TNTina skin players will need to complete 18 of the 20 TNTina’s Trial challenges....

Sony has a number of studios that are working hard behind closed doors on a range of titles, some we know about, others have yet to be officially unveiled to the rest of the world. One of those studios is Sony Santa Monica. The studio created the God of War series and is known to be have been working on a fourth numbered installment since 2014. Two years ago, creative director Cory Barlog confirmed the team was in early stages and heavily hinted that the game would more likely be a reboot as opposed to a sequel....

According to Techland lead game designer Tymon Smektala, the team has no plans to bring their upcoming action survival-horror title Dying Light 2 to PS5 or Xbox Scarlett. The game builds upon the world and mechanics that were established in the first game which launched in early 2015. Dying Light 2 is launching in early 2020, just on the cusp of the eighth and ninth console generations. The first Dying Light is one of the more underrated games of this console generation....
